This song is a great Lennon song... Who else but him could write about lazing in bed all day and actually pull it off? Probably no one...

This is probably one of my favorite John songs, now that I think of it...

The "British" Press proclaimed him the lazyest man in the "UK" His response was to write one of his best songs ever! If only all "Brit-pop" stars were that lazy!

Definitely one of my favorites. I think 1966 is arguably John's most fruitful year as a composer. 'Sleeping', 'Tomorrow Never Knows'-the first song recorded for 'Revolver', composing and putting demos together for 'Strawberry Fields' and 'A Day in The Life', and my favorite 'And Your Bird Can Sing' among others, he was just incredibly prolific during this time. I know that if I had to go through  all the crap he went through with the 'Jesus' aftermath and the 1966 tour, that I would probably just say 'Screw it'. But he not only forged ahead, he was absolutely brilliant. Granted "Revolver" was already recorded when all that stuff hit the fan, but he started work on what would become some of his masterpieces.

Its a great song and one of my favorites. I remember when I turned a few friends on to Revolver,,,,we were having a smoke fest (oh those college years) and I played the album. When 'I'm Only Sleeping' came on, my friends were blown away. They stated it perfect,,,,'its just not the music, but its how it makes you feel when like you just woke up.,,,,like wiping the sleep from your eyes'. Brilliant!

I'm Only Sleeping is one of my favourite songs. It gives me the shivers whenever I hear the backwards guitar. And the yawn in the middle is contageous

The Mono version has more backwards guitar than the Stereo version for those of you playing at home.

The Beatles are the greatest group of all-time!! forget those Anti-Beatle sites...those piss me off so bad, they only judge them by early day pop songs, but they have soo many great songs, and agree with critics and magazines etc. that thier the greatest band of all-time...its not because they were extremely famous, its becasue its the truth!!

In my world there is no "anti" Beatle sites and if there are we must just drop a big "LOVE-BOMB" on them and kill them with kindness!

I don't go looking for them, but I remember about a year ago, I saw one that was called something like "How the Beatles Ruined Everything". It was actually funny because it was so ridiculous. I think the freaks that show up here are just wicked. For example, the other day it said a new member's name was "HahaLennonisDead". They never post anything, they just join quick to be a**holes. I think another one's name was "Chapmanfan" or something like that. Gotta let that junk roll.

I love this track! On the American version of it there is even more backwards guitar!

Hah HAHAH AHHAH! I couldn't agree with this more, andyec. I am no longer allowed to listen to this song at work because I want to curl up in a ball under my desk and take a nap!

I must say though... I heard this ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING cover of "I'm Only Sleeping" once when I was in a department store. ugh. I don't know who the singer was... but it was a woman and the song was made slow and her voice was trembling throughout the whole song (Perhaps she was trying to sound sleepy?? I have no idea.)

It was just awful! I dropped what I was going to buy and RAN out of there as fast as I could! It was truly that bad..

By the way, has anyone heard that cover? I would love to know who did it... so I may assassinate her.
