Quite a few of the songs on this Lp have a "country" sound to them which was a strange departure from the Beatles Rock sound. I think that's why the album stands out compared to their previous work.
I love Rubber Soul. I think it has some of John's best work on it. Norwegian Wood is a fantastic song. It and In My Life are by far the two best songs on the album. They're two of the best songs ever. Nowhere Man and Girl are two more Lennon classics. He has the best four songs on the album. The other three standout songs are George's If I Needed Someone, Paul's I've Just Seen A Face, and one more great Lennon song,Run for Your Life. Wait,I'm Looking Through You, and The Word are decent, but they don't quite have what it takes to be among The Beatles best. Alot of people like Drive My Car and/or Michelle. They're ok,but they don't do anything special for me. Still,I'd rather have them than not. I can't remember the other song,it might be George's Think for Yourself, just a so-so song. Overall, though,Rubber Soul is a great album.
I think Rubber soul is a great album, but Revolver bettered it. I think both these albums could have been made a doulble album as they are so similar, but this is the point the serious music started to be made.
i agree that it is possibly the greatest album of all time...theres a song on there literally for everyone one...each is great and its so timeless, i could sit and listen to it over and over.its the same with abbey road also..i once listened to that like 3-4 times in a row!
The thing about abbey road was that the beatles werent realy a group, they were writing songs on their own and bringing the band together to play it, they were findingnew things to get into
