George had a lot of really good songs turned down by the others, I think he was on a par with Lennon and McCartney, and his solo stuff in my opinion was streets ahead of the others
I like George's Beatle version much better than his solo effort of 'Not Guilty'.
For me it's just the opposite. I prefer his version of 1979 on his solo album George Harrison. The Beatles version is ok, but Ringo's drumming sounds too much like a marching band's drummer sounds..... His solo version has more feeling.
The Beatles version is way better than the one on ATMP, imo. Of course, it's just a George demo from the time he was in the Beatles........but it's great.
"Only people know just how to talk to people. Only people know just how to change the world."
Yeah, threads for this album, Plastic Ono Band, and a few others are kind of useless..........everyone has the same opinion (that these albums are amazing)....
"Only people know just how to talk to people. Only people know just how to change the world."
All Things Must Pass is beautiful and haunting. (More so now.)
Just a great song. I'm assuming Paul will do it on this tour. I think one of his most overlooked songs is "Let It Down", its pretty and kicks a** at the same time. If anyone wants an example of Spector's 'Wall of Sound' with a million layers, this has to rank right up there. Even the acoustic version on the '30th' anniversary release is outstanding.
I LOVE Let It Down.... made obvious by my name....It's so intense, even when stripped down in the demo version.
Thanks for being my partner in crime on this one. It is by far my favorite solo George song. I play it on my guitar all the time. Its a shame its so overlooked, but you've renewed my faith in mankind. So there.
