None of the other bands I feel are really overated, apart from the Stones maybe..I mean HOW FAR CAN YOU TAKE THE BLUES?! Only so far...everything they've ever done after 1972 is repeated over, and over.
my words exactly!, you got it legthi, i think an awful lot of their music sounded repeated as the 70's drew in. i don't get Exile on Main Street at all. the album sounds great but i personally get boared after a while because it all sounds the same. i think most of their best stuff was the early stuff, jumpin jack flash, satisfaction etc.
HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY TO THE WHITE ALBUM! you say its your birthday!
Funnily enough, my favourite Stones album is the one that sounds least like them - Their Satanic Majesty's Request. I've always said they should have quit after Black & Blue.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
ive never really got into the stones at all, my friend is a big fan more so than the beatles and went to see them when they toured last year in glasgow.
i personally prefer them when they played outside of the blues bubble and went a wee bit more out there with songs like gimme shelter, paint it black where it went beyond the usual three chords blues riffs and was more experimental
ive listened to a few of there albums and did a hell of a lot of track skipping :S
The Who aren't overrated AT ALL! The Kinks and The Who are probobly the most underrated bands IMO.
Led Zeppelin are definitely my pick for most overrated though. All they had was virtuosity, no good lyrics, melodies, or ideas after their first album. After that they kind of did the same songs. I know they had diverse albums, but it was too much forced diverstiy. Bands like The Beatles and The Who were diverse in an organic way, which is much better.

i agree with everything you say there!

I couldn't agree with that less! If you don't like someone, fine, just say you don't like them. But that load of nonsense you just came out with (Happy Jack) beggars belief. Have you heard LZ111?, or Physical Graffiti? If you can't hear the diversity in those, then I feel sorry for you. You don't have to like something to appreciate it.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
I love Physical Graffiti and Hoses Of The Holy two great albums
'Holy' and '111' are my favourite Zep albums. But like I said, there's a stupidity in that comment above that's hard to bear. I don't like Queen much, but I appreciate their originality and diversity. Some people just don't open their ears, I suppose.

No Good lyrics ! I can`t believe that statement but everyone has there opinion and i respect it , but if you know a better rock band than Zeppelin i liked to hear them , they must be good .
These are some no good lyrics from the Zepp.
Stairway to Heaven
There's a lady who's sure, All that glitters is gold, And she's buying a stairway to heaven. When she gets there she knows, If the stores are all closed, With a word she can get what she came for. And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
There's a sign on the wall, But she wants to be sure, Because you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook, There's a songbird who sings, Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. It makes me wonder.
There's a feeling I get, When I look to the west, And my spirit is crying for leaving. In my thoughts I have seen, Rings of smoke through the trees, And the voices of those who stand looking. It makes me wonder.
And it's whispered that soon, If we all call the tune, Then the piper will lead us to reason. And a new day will dawn, For those who stand long, And the forests will echo with laughter.
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, Don't be alarmed now, It's just a spring clean for the May queen. Yes there are two paths you can go by, But in the long run, There's still time to change the road you're on. And it makes me wonder.
Your head is humming and it won't go, In case you don't know, The piper's calling you to join him. Dear lady can you hear the wind blow, And did you know, Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.
And as we wind on down the road, Our shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all know, Who shines white light and wants to show. How everything still turns to gold, And if you listen very hard, The tune will come to you at last. When all are one and one is all. To be a rock and not to roll.
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

I see quite a few people were taken aback by the statements I made about Led Zeppelin, and I admit they were ridiculous and not well thought. Of course I appreciate Led Zeppelin, they are one of the most popular bands ever, and I even enjoy quite a few of their songs. Maybe just compared to other bands mentioned above, I don't like them so much. I made the comment in the heat of the moment, and did not intend to sound pretentious. Although I do wish I saw what everyone else sees in Led Zep. Everyone I know loves them, but I've never been able to, no matter how many times I've tried. Oh well, at least we can all agree on The Beatles. Again, sorry to sound foolish and completely agree about not liking a band but still respecting and appreciating them.
Your entitled to have opinion Happy Jack , and its sad you can`t get into Zeppelin , as much as a Rush fan i am i still think Zeppelin are the ultimate rock band
Still you like The Who and Python so your a star in my constilation
