JOHN LENNON's former lover has blasted historical records for declaring the BEATLES' split was permanent, insisting they'd always planned to play together again.
Lennon's personal assistant MAY PANG - who had an 18-month affair with the IMAGINE singer in 1973 after he split from YOKO ONO - claims the pop icon often fantasised about reuniting with his ex-bandmate SIR PAUL McCARTNEY.
And Lennon often asked for advice on whether he should write to McCartney suggesting the Fab Four reform, to which Pang assured him they're far better as a unit than as solo artists.
She says, "Though John and Paul did not write many songs together, they had always been sounding boards for each other's ideas and he missed that. He was always saying, 'I wonder what Paul is up to.'
"I remember him saying, 'Do you think I should write with Paul again?' and I said, 'Absolutely, you should do it because it seems you want to. As solo performers you are good but together you can't be beaten.'"
The last Beatles album to be released was LET IT BE in 1970.

I don't think John was thinking about reuniting with Paul, George & Ringo again no matter what May Pang says. It's only her opinion at this point since he's been dead for over 20 years. I don't think JL would have done The Beatles Anthology at all or written with Paul even though they probably would have been friends again.
I want you, I want you so bad babe. I want you, I want you so bad. It's driving me mad, it's driving me mad.
Ahh who knows. At the time of his seperation with Yoko, John was an emotional mess (not to include the drug problem) and he probably figured that he had lost Yoko for good. Where else to turn he probably thought and The Beatles would have been a practical choice.
I'd like to think it was true, if only because its a nice thought. I'm not one for the "John would have done...." or "John would think...." - nobody knows what he would have done or thought. One thing John was not, and that was an open book in that we could guess his next move. Its one thing I love about the man.

They were thinking about doing the Anthologies together in 1980, but it was stopped due to ... well, y'know. Lennon's death.

I think that sums up what I'd say 'ere.
... that'd be way awesome if they did re-unite, though. =O
Things they do look awful c-c-cold... yeah,I hope I die before I get old.
I believe May Pang. Collaborating with the likes of Elton John, Bowie, Nilsson--why wouldn't he want to work with Paul again.
On some level he had to know how lame his studio musicians were compared to the raw power of the united Beatles.
I'd take George over Jesse Ed Davis anyday. And if you're gonna make Alan White play pump-ti-pump low-fi stuff why not use Ringo who plays with more individuality and feel.
Finally, who the hell can you hire to play bass as melodically as Paul--as well as sing backups that are perfectly suited with your voice. Certainly neither Elton nor Bowie sounds as good as Paul singing with John. No one does. And Lennon had to realize that.
