It seems to have gotten to the point with alot of people that if Paul talks about ideas he had, input he had, etc., that he is trying to take credit for everything. That's not the case. He gives John tons of credit where it is due. Just because Paul was more of a balladeer doesn't mean he didn't have different tastes even if they were radically different than the product he was releasing. I can go from Sinatra to Primus to Chopin without blinking an eye, and I'm certain there are others that have tastes in music that run the gamut. Just because Paul didn't release a Revolution 9 with the Beatles doesn't mean he didn't get it or have an affinity for the radical or avant garde. |

You can actually see how paranoid Paul has become when you watch him in interviews. Whenever he says something that can be remotely seen as him giving himself credit for something, he immediatly goes back and makes sure he says something like: but WE all or WE would do these things or John was there and so on. He seems like a nervous wreck when it comes to that stuff because he knows he's gonna be portrayed as slandering the memory of someone who he probably looks at as a brother. That's gotta hurt, being accused of that countless times by so called fans. |

I agree. Everything he says, he has to qualify. |

Thats why I wish someday he would just say f*** everybody and take credit for everything. I'd love to see the revolt in all the fans eyes. |

The arguement for John being the only 'Avant Garde' Beatle is one of the weakest Beatle related arguments going. |

All 4 of them did the work, and all 4 should be getting credit. there really isnt any beatle that is better then the other cause all 4 are as good as each other. they all just make it out that one is better then the others.
hey, maybe theres a conspiricy among them to call eachone better then the rest just to see the fans get all up in arms with it.
just keep playing those mind games |

Well, a theme I see amongst musicians is that percussionists and singers aren't "really" musicians . It's an injoke I've seen. So, to somedude, you could say that Ringo got the shaft and isn't as good as the rest |

eh, i guess but he still wrote songs, and anyone could be considered a musician or not. but percussionists do what guitars were doing in the 50's, just keeping rhythem, but drummers could sing, songwrite, and drum at the same time but still be considered not a musician. ringo did all three and still does, so i think hes considered a musician. despite what others may think. |

You seen Evelyn Glenn play percussion? She's a deaf percussionist and she'll change your mind about that. Also, properly trained percussionists play the Vibraphone (amongst an array of wierd and wonderful objects) and if that ain't musical, I don't know what is. Ringo is definitely a musician....No question. |

I can't believe anyone would doubt the fact that he is a musician. If so, are you hearing the tracks ok? Of course he is a bloody musician! That's actually ruffled the old feathers |

John Lennon once said: 'Avant-garde is French for bullshit', which may have been a dig at McCartney. Though Lennon was seen as the experimental Beatle, it was McCartney who immersed himself in the Sixties' avant-garde. He hung out with art dealer Robert Fraser, helped start the radical Indica gallery and bookshop, and bought paintings by surrealist Rene Magritte. In 1967, while Lennon retreated to his big house in Weybridge, McCartney sought out musical inspiration in the experimentalism of Stockhausen, John Cage and Cornelius Cardew. 'It was a very free, formless time for me', he told his biographer, Barry Miles, later. |

Hi everyone! I'm new! Revolution 9 was a mistake, since by TWA they had decided to move in a different direction to the previous year. What is so lovely about the psychedelic sounds of 1966-67 is how they fit in with those songs so perfectly. I think Revolution 9 is just a waste of time, because after we've heard it a few times the novelty value is over. I thought John was against gimmicks. We probably all would have been more impressed if he'd got round to recording one of his unrecorded songs instead. It doesn't blow my mind, if that's what it is supposed to do. It's just not music. Now when it comes to mind-blowing songs, look no further than the first CD of the set. That's where you'll find George's incredible 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'. George at his very best, and showing that he was indeed as talented as Lennon and Macca. At least, in my book he was. Nice to meet you all! |
