Personally, just making contact with my bass and playing it (not much more to do) gives me great joy. Whether I'm playing someonelse's work or messing around with it and creating something original, it is never the same and I never get bored.
Not everybody wants to be a rock star, but there are still many good reasons besides looking at playing as a career option.
-It helps keep my mind off petty problems I'm facing. If it's a big problem I'm probably writing about it.
-Reading notes and trying to get the right hand positions has made me more attentive, not only when playing but in general.
-In the long run it's probably going to be cheaper than spending hours in front of the tele or playing your Nintendo.
-It's one thing to listen to your heroes play great music, but to play their music gives you a whole different feeling. A bit euphoric sometimes.
-Helps you meet new people you might never have met if you didn't share a common interest in bass or playing music. A jam is always a nice way to get together and enjoy your time.
I have to say I'm a little nervous because I won't really know what to do with it. Luckly their is a guitar shop that gives out lessons five minutes away from my house. But after lessons I won't really know what to do. Can you guys please give me some reasons why I should buy it? The guitar is on sale so I don't have much time to make a decision. Thanks guys
I don't know much about this model but it is more similar to the Hofners headstock than the epiphone. You also get a scratchplate. lol The better man to ask maybe Riccy 325. I am very pleased with my Epiphone by the way. There is apparantly not too much difference in sound from the Hofner....I will have to find out for real, soon. A friend of mine has the 62 re-issue MAcca Hofner...I'm looking forward to getting my mitts on it. heheheh
Maybe I'm stupid or something but what does that mean? lol
Anyways, I picked a bass guitar a long time ago. I have the VB Rogue bass that was on that link I posted. Saturday(The 12th) was actually my very first preformance infront of an audience. I have to say wow! It was such an amazing experience! I was so awesome! After I was done random people came up to me complimenting me on how good I was and got a lot of compliments for my bass guitar. It was such a rush to be on stage and playing(I played the Red Hot chilli peppers-Suck My Kiss) and just feeling so damn cool. I read all the comments on this thread and realized I've come a long way since I made this thread. I had one comment that actually said "I'm afraid that if I pick up the guitar that I'll suck horribly at it" and wow this was not the case at all. I don't want to sound arrogant but I'm always getting complments on my playing and my guitar teacher was actually confident in my to let me play with him and his band on saturday. I can't wait to be infront of an audience again

You're not!!! I thought they were chords (EG stands for Electric Guitar, if you want) ... and It's Everything is one song I composed with them ... hope this clariflies!
Well, the sequence is: (for the chorus - - two bars each) E G E G (for the verses - two bars each) E G E G E G E G (and for the middle eight - two bars each) F G F G E
Yep, a belligerent song ... but don't judge a song for the chords! Tomorrow Never Knows!

Thats pretty frickin awesome. E, G and F were the first chords I learned. We all know that 'Tomorrow Never Knows' is an awesome song Oh and thanks for the compliment and the future one too when I play again infront of a crowd later on in the future. lol

Fricking awesome, indeed! ... that song is an old one of mine (it's from 1998, but it's far from being my first one) Most people begin with CFG or CGR ... common sequences in whatever the order is!
Good luck and success with your future performances!
Congratulations on your first public performance, Wordno! That is awesome!
I hate being in front of an audience. I get all uptight and my voice goes wobbly. I've been getting better now that I'm older, but for me it's easier to avoid the stagefright in the first place than try to fight my way through it. It's so cool that you're jazzed by performance. I envy you! Cheers.
