Same. The songs felt more personal than his normal fare and the production sounded great.
I hope we can say this is a good album period, not good for McCartney or good compared to blah blah.
I haven't heard the single yet. I've listened to Virgin. What station (UK) are people hearing it on? Has it actually been released yet? (when can we expect the vid on TOTP?)

You can sample "Friends To Go" and "English Tea" here:
http://mcduarte.multiply.com/music/item/63

Apparently "Friends To Go" is a new George Harrison song :
http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/news/20050726_macca.shtml

Btw, the mcduarte link above has a couple more tracks not mentioned here yet you can collect if you backtrack to the page before. Can't wait for the album.

I think, McCartney II is his worst for me at the moment. There's only one good song on it : Waterfalls. The rest is nice homerecording-experimental-s**t. I like the live-version of Coming Up on the B-side of the single, but the album version is horrible.

With some careful programming, this is a perfect album to listen to on a quiet peaceful summer day in a hammock under a shady tree. It is most relaxing and soothing. For that I love it.

Here's Paul talking about his songs and playing some songs like "Anyway" and "How Kind Of You". It's very nice...

Its not just Paul, Ringo sings Beatle tunes, John sang Beatle tunes, and George also sang Beatle tunes during live performances.

John didn't play live much and when he did the only Beatle songs he played were:

Come Together
Yer Blues
I Saw Her Standing There

To my knowledge that is all he played that were Beatle songs... he also did covers of tunes that The Beatles had covered to such as:

Money
Dizzy Miss Lizzy

Besides loads of covers they didn't commit to tape but that is irrelevant.

I think to say John did Beatles tunes in the context that Paul plays Beatle tunes is hardly comparable. Ringo does yes and George did too, but Paul is the king of Beatle songs live... without a doubt.

Yeah, but you're talking about 4 or 5 live performances John did, one of which was when he was still in the Beatles vs hundreds of performances by Paul and Ringo. Unless that's your point, I don't understand how you can compare.

Exactly! My whole point was that they all played Beatle tunes at one point or another, so its unjust to single any one of them out.

This is said to be the cover of the new album.

I just went to wal-mart last night, and at the entrance, I saw a sign showing the release of the album. It showed a different cover, jsut a simple picture with a plaing white background of Paul with a guitar.

Also, Ringo's "Choose Love" ... I mean, it's not doing a Beatles song per se, but there are title drops all over the place. You can't say that doesn't count. D:

You'd think Paul didn't do anything after the Beatles looking at his live sets, really. o_o;

EDIT: I really like the supposed album cover, btw. ^^;

Things they do look awful c-c-cold... yeah, I hope I die before I get old.

Even though I haven't listened to it yet (I'm gonna do that in a minute), I got the album today. The cover is the picture that was posted earlier. I have the 'special edition', which comes with a DVD with a 'making of' documentary, a studio performance video of "Fine Line" and an animated film.
