Paul McCartney has come underfire from Ringo Starr, after the former Beatle revealed his disappointment at not being invited to play at Live 8.
Sir Macca opened the show in London two weeks ago, performing "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club" with U2, including Larry Mullen on drums.
McCartney, who also closed the concert with a rendition of "The Long And Winding Road", was joined by a horn section during the opening track, dressed in "Sgt Pepper…" tunics.
However, Starr, who, along with Macca, are the only two surviving Beatles, is understood to be angry about not being asked to play at the massive show.
He said: "I was never asked to do it, he didn't ask me. It's too late now - it's disappointing.
"But I would have only done it if I'd been able to wear my 'Sgt Pepper…' suit."
McCartney and Starr last played together in a tribute concert for the late George Harrison at the Royal Albert Hall in 2002

I feel for Ringo as it was such a huge world stage and a one-off opportunity. Breaking up U2 for the gig would have been awkward. Just a can of worms really. I havn't heard Abe Laboriel complaining. hehehe
I love Ringo, I really do, but he does tend get a bit down in the dumps and needs to sort out his self-esteem issues. How can he not believe how popular and respected he is? Maybe it's the way he was handled as a Beatle...Who knows? If only George and John were around. Would they have got up for the gig? I can dream. lol
It'd have been really cool if Ringo had shown up in the audience wearing his Sgt. Pepper suit. Probably would have gotten more airtime on MTV/VH1 than the music did.
