It doesn't matter whether Dmitry has a problem with it. I asked whether it was ethical. Here's why it's not:

Consider this: Mr Jones and Mr Smith both own hardware stores. Mr Jones regularly visits Mr Smith's shop, and while there touts for customers to also visit his own store. Mr Smith doesn't object, because more people visit "Smith's Tools" than "Jones' Junk", and Mr Smith doesn't like confrontations. But privately, Smith (and several of his customers) consider Jones' actions to be weak and unethical.

So Plod, your lack of reasoning ability shines through again. But, Plod, you are right in one thing: "somethings never change......."

So what? I've got a feeling you don't understand what a "rhetorical" question is. A rhetorical question involves making a statement by asking a question. Some people feel therefore it's a question that doesn't need an answer. That is not so. The hearer may feel as if the statement (made via the rhetorical question) is quite wrong, and thus will respond to the point being made.

That's the position here. Constable Plod uses this forum to promote his own in a way I find distasteful. As it's a public forum, I feel entitled to respond. If he can feel free to drum up support here, then I feel free to say I don't like it.

According to the broadly accepted ethical principle of Hedonic calculous, any ethical decision should be taken in accordance of which ever path will result in the greatest good for the greatest number. Therefore the use of such links in forums... blah blah. Forum ethics? Why should someone bothered about anybody else sticking links to other forums on the bottom of their posts (other than to perhaps provoke reactions such as this)? Sorry if I offended anyone with poor forum etiquette.

Hey, hardly anyone's visiting THIS forum! I can't imagine how it will be if everyone's off somewhere else. Sorry, but it just seems extremely slow around here lately.

Hey, nobody's saying i cant do both  I noticed it is pretty slow here too. At the moment i am just flicking back through the pages, chaecking out some of the old stuff.

This forum seems to go through phases. Either there's a huge amount of activity or it's a ghost town.

It's pretty much a ghost town everytime i am on here, mainly because i am in Aus, and the majority of people here are in UK, USA, Canada, so i cant really chat to people to often. It's 3.45 in the afternoon here.

It's only 10:50 here. But I'm on the west coast. I guess all the Brits and east coasters are sleeping. Or just waking up.
