While it's true these Larry williams songs were not top 40, they were great rock and roll songs. However "Leave my Kitten alone" was not a Larry Williams cover, it was a song by blues artist Little Willie John. The other larry Williams cover tune was "Bad Boy" with Lennon doing some of his best vocal work on all three. Larry williams most notably remembered for the song "Bony Maronie" as this was his only top 20 hit.
Of all the Beatles covers the Larry Williams stuff is my favorite, And I got to say "Bad Boy" is my pick of the three so I could'nt understand why it was not part of the poll. As you posted at first Mclen, I can't understand either why "Leave My Kitten Alone" was not released though. It most certainly blew songs like "Mr. Moonlight" out of the water.

Sorry for the screw-up! I knew they did 3 Williams covers and for some reason Bad Boy just didn't come into my head. And even worse, it's MY favorite too! The lyrics are so good. When I first heard Kitten on a bootleg in the late 70s, I just couldn't believe they rejected that one. That's got to be one of John's best vocal workouts next to Twist And Shout!
That might be another first that the Fabs created: The first bonus track on a 'Greatest Hits' type of compilation. Happens all the time now, but that song was thrown on the "Collection of Oldies but Goldies" or whatever the hell it was called and was the only previously unreleased song on it.

Actually it 1st appeared on Beatles VI in the US in early '65. Probably the only benefit us Yanks ever got over the Brits from these mangled versions. Big deal!
Actually I take it back. Yesterday And Today came out a few months before Revolver. So we got a "sneak peak" with Dr Robert, And Your Bird and I'm Only Sleeping included on that release. Again, big deal!
Definately not Dizzy Miss Lizzie, that one always annoys me... So it's either Slow Down or Bad Boy: I like them both, not much difference. I choose Slow Down for no particular reason.

The Beatles version of Dizzy Miss Lizzy rocks with lots of attitude from John & I haven't heard the original though. Slow Down is great, but DML kicks more.
I want you, I want you so bad babe. I want you, I want you so bad. It's driving me mad, it's driving me mad.
Bad Boy for me. I never heard this song until Past Masters Vol. 1 came out, whenever that was. Just like having the previously unreleased track on compilations that come out now.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
