NOTE: The longest song The Beatles ever recorded was Helter Skelter. This long yet still unreleased version is 27 minutes 11 seconds long. When you listen to the five minute released version, at the end, the song fades away, then cuts back ending with Ringo saying. "I've got blisters on my fingers," conveying his thoughts, after the 27 minute version. |

Yeah, I'm going to wait for Anthology 4 for that 27-minute version. Plus "Carnival Of Light" of course.. |

It was Ringo.
Sometimes when John spoke with a deep voice he sounded like Ringo. For example, I was listening to Live at the BBC yesterday and in a little speech called A LITTLE RHYME John speaks in a deep voice but you'd almost swear it was Ringo!
|
| John: You're just a lonely old man from Liverpool. Grandfather: But I'm clean! John: Are ya? |

I think that's actually wishful thinking on blue's part rather than an EMI/Apple decision. Sadly |

I've sought it out forever and haven't been able to find anything. This is one of the few rarities that somehow has stayed out of the hands of bootleggers so far, at least as far as I know. It might get tedious, but I'd love to hear it. |

There is a 9:38 version on 'Alternate Takes: Helter Skelter'. Bootlegzone however thought it might be fake. |

In the Anthology Directors Cut dvd there's an interview with George Martin, Derek and Neil; and George mentions the 27 min. Helter Skelter. He said it was 'boring' and too damn long to be included in the Anthology 3 album |

I've always wanted to hear the full version of Revolution #1 - the one with all of the "all rights" in it that were later used for Rev #9. |

I think the time has come seriously (although it may take another good ten years knowing Apple and EMI) for "Anthology 4" - enough time has passed (10 years) for them to put together a package with items that fans have been demanding. Finish up John's other demo "Now And Then" and have Ringo and Paul clean up the recording, throw on stuff like the 27 minute "Helter Skelter" and "Carnival of Light" and a lot of the other odds and sods which didn't make the ANTHOLOGY and put out a mini box set containing all this stuff. I'd buy a copy and I'm sure a lot of others would too. |

i think its time that all us beatles fans send some massive petition or letter or protest or something and get them to come up with anthology 4.
bed-ins against the man, man! although i guess it would make it hard to remake songs if both guitarists are dead. kinda dulls it up. |

I suspect that they might eventually release an Anthology IV album. Maybe with more unreleased material such as more songs from the Decca auditions and unreleased versions of other songs. Anthology III makes it clear that there are 99 versions of Not Guilty. I always thought the 'blisters on my fingers' shouting was Paul. |

I've already noticed some anti-Paul sentiment after just a short while of being here. What's all that about? Various possibilities; John blamed him for splitting up The Beatles, his post-Beatles stuff is arguably poor, his songwriting seemed to be declining some in the final days of the Beatles (Teddy Boy, Maxwell's Silver Hammer). But don't forget he wrote more Beatles songs than John, and a lot of them were fantastic. |

I don't think there is an anti-Paul sentiment here, at least not overall. Each one gets their turn in the barrel from time to time, but there certainly isn't as much fault-finding as championing them all. |

I just wondered if there are any anti-Paulers, that's all. And wondered why if so. Actually I think there is little scope for denigrating any of the four. But some criticism is bound to come out now and again. No problem! |

I think Paul needed John to bounce his ideas off, whereas John was quite confident about his own songs. Some of Paul's songs, like We Can Work It Out, sound even more interesting because of John's contributions. Wihout John's additions, I reckon Paul's songs would have sounded a lot more dum-de-dum, dee-de-daa, without the harder edged parts which John added. Like the way a lot of Paul's songs went after he left The Beatles. I think Paul always missed that. That's my view. |

I think that's also what explains Paul's decline after the Beatles split up, whereas John remained consistently inspired. |

Man, where do you get this. I'd need a list of Pauls' songs that John made harder. And John was consistently inspired? What are you basing that on? |

I went through that thought pattern for a while. Now, I totally agree with Al (The End). |
