Well, here as promised - ahem! - is the DM Forum Song. Well, it's just Rick's bass and a drum track actually! So whoever wants to have a bash at the next track, please see the the guidance earlier in this thread. Good luck!
Don't worry about the hosting of the track, I can upload so everyone can get involved, I think we just need a continuity though - so after the bass and drums are sorted it would get passed onto the next person to add their bit etc etc. It would be better to do it in turn.
What I was thinking was to record the tracks in two track stereo, so as each new track is recorded I can add it to the master mix. That way tempo and pitch would not be an issue - as in the following example:
Track 1 panned left - drums Track 2 panned right - bass Send takes to Alan - Alan mixes tracks 1 & 2 to multitrack then mixes the two tracks to one track ready for the next person. Alan sends mix on to the next person Track 3 (panned left) - drums and bass (this is a mix of tracks 1 & 2) Track 4 - panned right - rhythm guitar is added Send take to Alan - Alan copies track 4 to multitrack then mixes all the tracks together to one track ready for the next person. Track 5 (panned left) - a mix of drums, bass and rhythm guitar (from tracks 1, 2 & 4) Alan sends on to the next person. Track 6 (panned left) - a mix of drums, bass rhythm guitar (a mix of tracks 1, 2 & 4) Track 7 - panned right - lead guitar is added Send take to Alan - Alan copies track 7 to multitrack then mixes all the tracks to one track for the next person. Track 8 (panned left) - a mix of drums, bass, rhythm and lead guitar(from tracks 1, 2, 4 & 7) Alan sends on to the next person
Etc etc for 16 tracks in total if necessary!
Hope that all makes sense!
I reckon maybe 4 minutes would be better though rather than 2 minutes.
