Hi all just thought id introudce myself here as a fellow Beatles nut. Im 22 and have been into them since i was 15ish when my dad played me Sgt Pepper. First few bars of the title track and I was hooked... I now can play every guitar/bass (and harmonica!) part of nearly every track, sing every harmony part and own every book/DVD/video I can ever find on them. I guess all i want to say is that i really LOVE the Beatles unconditionally! A few little points id like to say are the following:
Does anyone ever agree that the BEST fab four track is ALWAYS the one your currently listening to no matter if its on Please Please Me or Abbey Road?
I can knock them, but nobody else can... If Macca does something for instance such as his recent request for some tracks to be re-credited McCartney/Lennon I might think... 'come on paul you dont reeeeaallly need to be doing that' but when the media say he's being petty I get very annoyed cause they are not qualified to say that and how DARE they!!?! Strange paradox there.
People who say the Beatles are good, but overrated just DONT understand and never will do.
Sometimes I find it hard to grasp that listening to I Saw her Standing There and Lucy in the Sky is by the same group. Then i throw on In My life and get further confused. The Fabs are an ENCYCLOPEDIA of music and not just rock... how did they do that? Im jealous... (im a songwriter myself you see)
On another note, i went to Liverpool recently on my own pilgrimage (dragged my girlfriend) and went for a drink in the (new) Cavern, The Grapes (sat in Johns chair!) Menlove Avenue and Strawberry Fields and the bus tour round Penny Lane... humbling experience, i had to pinch myself!
Im into other music too (even todays stuff, hip hop, R N B) as well very into The Stones, Who, Kinks etc.... 50's Rock and Roll, Delta blues... the lot. But it was the Beatles who opened the door for me to go back and search these other cats out... Thanks lads or I might be going around now saying Eminem is the most telented artist ever cause he is so witty and cool and such a badass otherwise. (I do actually like Eminem to a degree btw...)
Never admit you like Eminem on a classic rock board. I put that out in the open on another board and it took over 5000 posts and members requesting me to become a mod (and failing nonetheless) to earn their respect.
And welcome.

Did I write this?!!!! I have to agree on nearly every point there!! Apart from one - I can't play any Beatle tunes (despite being a musician myself!!!)
Anyway, welcome to the board - you will love it here
Funny you should say that legend, im just goin through a Dylan spell myself although ive not tried to do any harmonica to his stuff (yet!). At the moment im doing beatles riffs (PPM, FMTY, LMD) and some of the Brian Jones stuff on early Stones records (very tricky to get that cross harp sound right!)
Yeah i do like Hip Hop. Eminem to me has good wordplay and is definately different (or was when he first broke) and the rhymes have a nice stylistic wit to them. Hip Hop wise I prefer the older stuff when it was coming of age (im talking about 1975 - 1990) not this new 'Im rich, drive big cars and get all da ho's' stuff. Thats fake. I like the real stuff at its inception of its various form (Grandmaster Flash, Run DMC, NWA, Public Enemy and others) before it turned into a pastiche of itself covered with gold chains and guns (although i do like NWA circa '88 talking about f*ck tha police etc because it was REAL at the time)
Anyways, enough on that! I just like all forms of music (nearly) and end up being a compulsive reader on its history. Last night i was listening to Robert Johnson and then Please Please Me Eclectic !
But... the Beatles are where its at. No-one (as far as I can see) will ever quite sum things up like they did. They were just too perfect! Right people, right talent, right place, right time and so on...
HAVE YOU GOT A CIGGARETTE FOR ME PLEASE JOHN? YES GEORGE... "MARALAOUBOROUGH"... THE 'BIG' CIGGARETTE FOR THE 'BIG' MAN
Thanks all, it look likes a good place to come late on a night in after a few drinks while playing the entire Beatles back catalogue full blast and you just want someone to agree with you!
