MOSCOW (AFP) - A three-metre (10-foot) long yellow submarine made of drinks cans and plastic has been unveiled in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg to mark the 65th birthday of late Beatles frontman John Lennon.
A likeness of the legendary singer's head appears through a porthole in the turret of the submarine, which celebrates the Beatles's bizarre classic chart-topping 1966 song "Yellow Submarine."
The unveiling of the monument, anchored in the middle of a lake in Yekaterinburg, was part of celebrations by the local "Beatles Club" to be attended by the British consul to Yekaterinburg, Echo Moskvi radio station said.
