Ringo performs live at Bangladesh release party

by Chris Carter, Breakfast with the Beatles

October 21, 2005

There was great event held last night by Apple Records/RHINO/ Warners along w/ UNICEF at the Steve J. Ross Theater at Warners Studios in Burbank to celebrate the DVD/CD re-release of the Concert For Bangladesh.

Following a screening of a documentary about the Bangladesh concert there was a cocktail party outside of the theater while a string section played some George Harrisongs.

What made it so "special" was after the string section finished, the stage was taken by some of the original Bangladesh concert alumni fronted by George Harrison's son Danhi on guitar, Billy Preston on keys, Klaus Voorman on bass, and Jim Keltner on drums along with some original horn players.

The highlight was when RINGO jumped up on the drums to play a fine version of "Isn't It A Pity". WOW! All this in lovely downtown Burbank! Also in the crowd were Tom Petty, Jeff Lynn, Joey Molland (of Badfinger...who should have been on stage!!!), George's wife Olivia, and Eric Idle among others.
