I'm anxious to hear what your thoughts were on the Columbus show. I went and was just wondering.

I was at the Milwaukee show on Sunday. Seemed a bit more 'mechanical' than past tours. I was glad he played some obscure stuff, but it didn't seem to have that flow. Don't get me wrong, seeing Macca is a thrill in itself and he sounded great, but you can tell, especially since he's been performing/touring on a pretty regular basis, which songs he's getting tired of. He whipped through "Yesterday". I don't know, it was a great show and he plugged away for 2 1/2 hours, but something was missing, there isn't any spontanaeity anymore. Does that make any sense? What are your thoughts?

You said it better than I could. I was driving home from the show and was thinking about how I felt after seeing it and my buddy called me up on my cell phone. He asked me to rate the show we saw in Cleveland in 02' and then rate this one. I said the 02' show got a 9 or ten and this one got a 5 or 6. He said it was a 4 in his book and he might be a bigger Macca fan than me. Dont get me wrong, it was a great show and it was Paul after all, but it did seem a bit forced and he did seem tired playing some songs (as i'm tired of hearing some of the songs).

Some low parts of the show-

1. JET - Too slow and lifeless
2. Blackbird - seemed to me like he was missing chords and so forth, but I was tending to the whiney kids at the time
3. Yesterday - really, really burnt out on this tune
4. At the beginning with the show about his life, would it be too much of an injustice to include just one picture or mention of Linda?
5. Rusty Anderson - I hate his tone and the fact you can never hear his guitar.
6. Lastly, if I would have had a sniper rifle, that techno DJ at the very begining was done. That was just terrible.

Highlights -

1. I Will - this came off better than I thought and the story about why he played it was interesting.
2. Band On The Run - also came across suprisingly well as i dont usually care for this tune all that much when played live by Paul.
3. Live And Let Die - I know this is his best song, but the multi-colored flames and pyros really did it up. I've seen Paul a few different times and different years and this was the best he's done with the stage show to this song.
4. Abes drumming - what more needs to be said. He's a true entertainer along with Paul.
5. Follow Me - I love this song and he did it well
6. I've Got A Feeling - Best song he did. A lot of energy and man did they rock with it.
7. Helter Skelter - Not that it was great, but seeing him do it was pretty wild.
8. Too Many People - I loved it.
9. Penny Lane - really well done also.

Oh well,,,,it was still awesome!

One more thing - this was my first sober concert. didnt even touch a beer and let me tell you, sobriety is overrated.

I'll second that. The only good thing about sobriety is I don't go to bed with Halle Berry and wake up with Frankenberry...

Our picks are very similar. I thought 'Too Many People' had the most energy, and to see 'I've Got A Feeling' and 'Helter Skelter' live was worth it alone. I've got mixed emotions about the show. I've been reading article after article about how regimented his life is--one hour for this, 10 minutes with that reporter, you kind of wish he'd cut loose for the time that is his own. His inter-song chatter is canned, and the DJ at the beginning has got to go, it sucked. I was surrounded by 50 and 60 somethings, and they almost looked worried. He doesn't need a Cirque du Soleil or a huge windup, it gets to be overkill, just lower the house lights and have at it.

That's interesting. I'm seeing him next month, and I wonder how he'll stand up to the other concerts I'll see before him. I go to the Stones a couple of weeks before him and I never saw them before. I've heard they put on a great live show. I also just saw Queen, and as funny as it sounds, they were freaking amazing. I mean, the best I've ever seen. Very spontaneous too. Even Slash showed up for a song. I wonder if I'll get that excited at Paul's show. i hate the place he's playing too. It's huge. I wish he'd do something smaller and do a few shows. It's so much better. Anyway, I saw him years ago and rememer having a great time, but that was a long time ago. Interesting comments though.

No "Linda-ness" anywhere?

Well, I guess his scrag hag wife is to blame for that.

I saw Paul twice in late 1990 (I think it was, I'm old) at Madison Square and the show kicked major a$$.

John: You're just a lonely old man from Liverpool.
Grandfather: But I'm clean!
John: Are ya?

I saw him twice on that tour as well (in Chicago, including the last show of the tour) and he did kick major a**. I'll never forget the Soldier Field show as long as I live.

Huh, how many times have you seen him? I´ve only seen him live once and that was in Copenhagen 2003. I will try to do so again but this time I would like to see him at Earls Court, London.

They were the most brilliant, powerful, lovable, popular group on the planet...

I just got back from seeing him and I can't even put into words how great I thought it was at the moment. This was the last show of the tour. I had no idea. The dude played for three and a half hours without a break! Amazing. I have to go to work in about 4 hours and I'm not the least bit tired. Paul rules.

Glad you liked it. What were faves?

***Also, can I be blunt and say that the last pic of Paul in your signature is disturbing for some reason? It almost looks like a cartoon.***

Yeah, he does look weird in it! Oh well.

Some of my favorites were:

For No One-such a beautiful song and he sound great.
Maybe I'm Amazed-because he didn't play it last time I saw him and it's such a great song.
She Came in Through the Bathroom Window-cool
Let It Be-because it's my favorite songs. The people going up the isles with candles was cool too.
HELTER SKELTER!!-OMG how great was that???
Let Me Roll It-I'm so glad he stuck that in. It's a great song. And live even better.
Too Many People-another great one you never hear.
I've Got a Feelling- I LOVED this one!!! And Abe did great at John's parts but they played it so loud you could barely him hear when he and Paul did it together.

I also liked the film at the beginning and the dance remixed of his and Beatles stuff. Paul's stories and jokes were great. He's such a pro. My friend thought he really made you feel like he was in his living room. A comment he made from the beginning. Loved it. I could see him again and again and again. I also liked that each of the band members had a chance to talk. A few of them are from Los Angeles! It was cute. They all looked like the got along so well. Oh, and when he was telling a story and mentioned George's name, the crowd went INSANE! They he goes something like 'yeah, let's pay tribute to our departed loved ones John, George and Linda.' And put up two peace signs and closed his eyes for like 30 secons. I thought it was interesting that John came first. Even over Linda. My friend goes, well she wasn't a Beatle she's lucky she was even thrown in. Paul getting a piggyback from Abe was also great! Overall, I love the guy even more then ever! Which I didn't think possible. ANd my friend is now a convert. She wants him.
