I bought this album yesterday and listened to it in the evening. If you haven't got it, rush out now and buy it! I sold off some musically quirky and lyrically daft albums (namely, Yes), and with the money wanted a Beatles solo album. What persuaded me to get this one is the the re-doing of some of his Beatles' songs. What a pleasant surprise! Yesterday and Here, There And Everywhere are EXCELLENT! FAR better than the original recordings - especially Yesterday, which leaves out the sombre strings of the original. Yesterday and Here, There And Everywhere, and wanderlust all flow so nicely together. And Wanderlust is a lovely song, worthy of The Beatles. Sounds like a song about a boat to to me.

The other Beatles tracks are interesting, though The Long And Winding Road is not a patch on the original. But Eleanor Rigby is interesting enough.

The sound quality is EXCELLENT, as it was digitally recorded in 1984.

The Beatles tracks on it are, in order:

Good Day Sunshine
Yesterday
Here, There And Everywhere
For No One
Eleanor Rigby
The Long And Winding Road

It's my pleasure to review this album, and I know I'll listen to it a lot in future. I recommend it to anyone who is thinking of getting a nice new Macca album. I remember that the movie was a flop, but, IMO, this album is a real success! But, I just wish thast Macca would give the same attention to other Beatles' songs of his.

These are some of the feelings you might experience if you hear it:

A great novelty for you but if tkitna hears you... No More Lonely Nights (Ballad version) is McCartney being Mccartney and there's some good new songs but I don't like too much the covers he did, specially The Long And Winding Road and the second part of Eleanor Rigby (why the city sounds in the intro?   ) but he has made worse albums.

You can feel the excitement in her post and that's pretty cool. I just got it in September, and was super-mega-blahblahblah surprised at how excellent this album is as well. I always thought it was kind of a throwaway soundtrack, but I'd never heard it. It's outstanding. Great remakes. (This thread should bring back Wayne L. with guns blazing).

Her! Do I really sound feminine? No worries. I'm smiling!

But, yes, I find it exciting. You say; 'I always thought it was kind of a throwaway soundtrack, but I'd never heard it.' Have you 'suffered' from the same problem as me - thinking that what Macca did after the Beatles was too disposable? Well, Wanderlust is GREAT! I've been re-assessing some of Macca's other stuff, and I'm really enjoying Pipes Of peace. Incidentally, I remember the vid just about. Macca was a soldier in the WWI trenches, singing his song.

Raxo says 'The Long And Winding Road and the second part of Eleanor Rigby (why the city sounds in the intro?   )' I have to agree about those two songs. I think the sounds are from the soundtrack. It is unnecessary, but doesn't spoil it too much.

The sound quality is tops though, as I said. Hearing Yesterday, I just thought; I wish Macca would do an unplugged, with about 1/2 a dozen acoustic guitars and a grand piano. I reckon that would be awesome. And, maybe with an orchestra - fantastic!

He made some ones like that in his MTV Unplugged from 1991 (one of the first of the famous serie that channel made in the 90s) without  6 guitars or piano or orchestra but a lively show.

I just came up with a spontaneous melody (again):

Jaded hippy stuff,

You just can't get enough,

You just can't get enough,

Of jaded hippy stuff.

It's not cruel, thanks mate - it's funny!   Thanks for caring anyway.

Not the first time I've been compared to a 'her'.

And on the subject of Beatles (you know, that ultimate band of bands of bands), I think;' Why couldn't they sometimes try to see it from the girl's point of view?'. But, that's the blues in the Rythm 'n' Blues innit!?

Just yesteday I had a bad experience. But, 'it's getting better all the time.' But, today I'm determined to be more buoyant.

Seriously, about the melody, I'm thinking of trying to write a a bunch of songs around some melodies I thought up. I know the required handful of chords on my guitar...C, F...
