I was listening to this album in the car today and there were several songs that just weren't clicking for me: "Another Girl" "You're Gonna Lose that Girl" "The Night Before" "Tell Me What You See" and "You Like Me Too Much."   They all seem weird from the p.o.v. of the singer.   Why does the guy tell his buddy he's gonna lose that girl, if he wants her himself?   Why does the guy tell his girl that he's got another girl--yet still seems to want her--is he gonna keep both of them?   Is the doormat gonna come back just because she likes him too much?   What exactly happened the night before that made them cry--a one-night heavy-petting session and now they're regretably going their separate ways.  I guess the Beatles were running out of relationship songs and going for anything different, but still supposedly wholesome.

But the rest of the album is amazing.  

Also, is Paul playing lead on some of the electric songs?

Well, I think there's your answer. I guess they were developing their songwriting skills and tried to do something else. Help! could be a crossover album in that point of view. No more 'From Me To You' and 'She Loves You' kind of things, but a start to go more in depths

It could well be a good thing that they ran out of relationship perspectives, from the viewpoint of their ongoing development as songwriters!

Agree.
They were changing, slowly but definately changing. There were some guy-maniac songs (The Night Before or You're Going to Lose That Girl) but others very different (Help!, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away or Yesterday).
The process began in Guys For Sale somehow (I'm A Loser, Baby's In Black or I Don't Want to Spoil the Party are not so guy-maniac as She Loves You).

I like all those songs especially Your Gonna Lose that girl that ending is amazing.

I love the voices of You're Going to Lose That Girl. The Night Before has a magnetic rhythm. Yeah, I like both.  

I've actually been getting into this album more recently especially the soundtrack side, the only song on it I'm to fond of is Another Girl

For me it's Tell Me What You See (a silly song for the guys of 1965, lyricaly and musicaly)

All the songs like Night Before, Another Girl and You're Gonna Lose that Girl are catchy.  Especially the first two.  But the more I think of it, they really are weird lyrically.  Tell Me What You See is weird too.

When you read the lyrics, they sound almost like  the singer is trying to hypnotize the girl or something.  It'd be neat to rewrite the song with a dark, Svengali-like melody.  What you see . . . is . . . me   What you see . . . is . . . me . . . .

I'm surprised that no one has done an album with Manson doing Beatles songs.  Sick idea but this is a sick society.  I know he's got some records anybody know anything about them?

The whole Guys For Sale, in my opinion.

I was listening to beatles-rama or something like that the other night and they played the acoustic guitar version of No Reply (with breakdowns and laughing) and I like it better as a guitar song than piano song--the album cut seems a little melodramatic to me.  The harmonies of John and Paul are always a little less blended on the guitar version I liked that better too.  Two distinct voices.  The album version feels a little too compressed.

I'd like to hear that acoustic version

Every song on Help! is great imo, I dont care about the lyrics if it has a great melody.
