The Beatles were also famous for their great album covers. But that's something Paul didn't get fame for in his solocarreer. I think the covers of McCartney II, Pipes Of Peace, Red Rose Speedway, London Town and At The Speed Of Sound are not particularly great pieces of artwork. The cover of Press To Play however might be the best part of the album. What's your opinion on this?
I've noticed that. A lot of Paul's album covers do seem to look a bit daft. Red Rose Speedway looks naff, and I can't imagine what the first album's cover is supposed to represent. John's solo album covers look pretty cool though.
In fairness to Paul none of the others rank that high either. In fact, most album art is quite boring. I think it's just that Paul and co set the bar too high earlier on.
I like the album covers to 'Back To The Egg', 'Flowers In The Dirt', and 'Band On The Run', but for the most part, Paul does have some lackluster album covers.
