I've overheard a few people talking about an upcoming newest "new" release from The Beatles. Rumor has it that McCartney is behind this 'in the works' project, but is working hard to keep it secret until closer to release date.
The CD is reportedly called 'The Beatles: HEAVY' and is a collection of classic harder and weightier Beatles tunes beginning with the great guitar wrencher: 'She's so heavy', followed by a genius mix of cuts from Abbey Road, The White Album and other post '67 recordings, including at least one previously unreleased song.
From what I've heard this is expected to be the biggest thing from The Beatles (music quality wise) since their break-up, possibly surpassing the Anthology collection. Unfortunately aside from these rumors from a couple of self proclaimed 'insiders' I haven't found any more information.
I'm sitting here feeling excited! Let's just hope it's not just a rumour. But, I couldn't help feeling for a while that something else would be in the pipeline after Anthology anyway. I'd prefer another Anthology (IV) though.
I already own every Beatles Record. Whats the point of this if I could just burn a cd with all the "heavy" songs?
Well said. I'm afraid it all comes (if it finally does) as a commercial point of view: ... nowadays ... oh didn't you know that the guys had also heavy stuff too? ... look here dudes: THE NEW ALBUM! ...
If its something that Macca or somebody else has in the vaults that we havent heard before, i'm all for it naturally, but like you guys said, if its the same tunes thats just packaged for commercial use,,,,count me out.
The good thing about this is that it would expose the Beatles' heavier side to the general public, who still think of them as the guys who did Yesterday.
You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.

There's a view with many people here in the UK, I think, that the Beatles are kind of totally synonymous with mop-top, grinning, besuited young lads who just played sweet melodies with clunky guitar chords, constantly screaming 'yeah, yeah, yeah.' If this new album is going to be heavy, and has as much public exposure as Beatles 1, then it should make a lot more people here aware that the guys graduated into hard rockers later on. I've heard people say about the Beatles, 'But they're pop!'. Sums it up really!
