The thing I love about this board is everyone is interested in so many different types of bands.  Because of threads on this specific forum, I bought six Beach Boys CDs and don't regret them.  My favorite "2fer" was Sunflower/Surf's Up.  I especially loved Disney Girls (1957).

My question is: Are the Byrds worth listening to? I like their familiar stuff like Turn Turn Turn and Mr. Tambourine Man, but what about the other albums?

Also, I have a Simon and Garfunkel compilation with these songs on it:

Sound of Silence, Homeward Bound, I Am A Rock, The Dangling Conversation, Scarborough Fair/Canticle, The 59th Street Bridge Song, Hazy Shade of Winter, At The Zoo, Fakin' It, Mrs.Robinson, Old Friends/bookends, The Boxer, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Cecilia, The Only Living Boy in New York, Song for the Asking, El Condor Pasa, For EMily, Whenever I May Find HEr (Live), America, and My Little Town.

Is it worth getting the actual albums, or are these songs basically the core of Simon and Garfunkel?

There are way more brilliant songs by Simon and Garfunkel than just those. Paul Simon is a great songwriter. A lot of his solo stuff is worth listening to too.

Anyone remember this? For some reason I don't! I can't believe I can remember the turkey outfit one but not this! I do rememer that George episode, but not the song. What'd they sing?

They played together in the Saturday Night Live in November, 1976.

About that song that they were singing ... it may be one these:

1. Here Comes The Sun
2. Homeward Bound
3. Bye Bye Love
4. Yesterday (1 line by George)/Bridge Over Troubled Water (1 line by George)
5. Rock Island Line
6. Ending

I've got one videoclip of this performance with them playing Here Comes The Sun and Homeward Bound and another two videoclips with George, Ringo, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, Elton John and Phil Collins among others playing Here Comes The Sun and While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
Anyone interested? If so you all know where my door is ... knock on it without any fear ...

I bought this one some years ago. I had listened to a compilation of Simon and Garfunkel for a long time so I decided to try this one out. Amazing collection of songs. Released in 1986.

Negotiations and Love Songs 1971-1986

1. Mother And Child Reunion
2. Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard
3. Something So Right
4. St. Judy's Comet
5. Loves Me Like A Rock
6. Kodachrome
7. Have A Good Time
8. 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover
9. Still Crazy After All These Years
10. Late In The Evening
11. Slip Slidin' Away
12. Hearts And Bones
13. Train In The Distance
14. Rene & Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After The War
15. Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes
16. You Can Call Me Al

They were the most brilliant, powerful, lovable, popular group on the planet...

Cool!

If you're into Simon & Garfunkel and you like the song Disney Girls: Art Garfunkel (solo) recorded a pretty good cover version of that song. You can find it on plenty of low budget Art Garfunkel compilations.

Thanks for all the advice so far, guys! The thing with Simon and Garfunkel is that, like I said, I don't know much past that compilation.  The songs on the CD I have are pretty good, though.  My favorite is Bridge Over Troubled Water =)

Oh, I forgot to mention that, along with the 2fer albums, I also have the Pet Sounds album as well.  It's a very beautiful album =)
