This picture that Kate posted (thanks Kate!) got me thinking (again!). When was the very last time The Beatles were all together in the same room? I remember trying to look this up once but can't remember what I came up with!!
You're at home!!! ... are you talking about the day when it all this was? 'cos I think it was Friday, August 22nd, 1969:
`Tittenhurst', Suningdale, Ascot, Berkshire. Last photographic session. Photographers: Ethan Russell, Monty Fresco and Mal Evans. Partially shot. Locations: 1) Pillars in front of the main house; 2) Main garden path; 3) Paddock of high grass; 4) John and Yoko posing with donkeys; 5) Cypress tree by the Diana statue; 6) Weeping blue Atlas cedar trees; 7) Atlas trees; 8 ) Lawn near main house; 9) Balcony; 10) Side doorway in the assembly hall; 11) Arched porches; 12) Walled path between cottages and main house; 13) Indoors; 14) Southern balcony of main house.
It's strange to have a photo shoot of the event. Groups tend to break up behind closed doors. But it really does seem that this is the last time ALL FOUR were together.
That photo session is from late August 69... when did Paul go to Scotland? in september? ... it was by the time Abbey Road was out, ain't it? ... and he came back to London in late winter or so, I think ... but by that time they were doing their things ...
... Ringo visited him because of their albums thing in spring '70 ... and George and John didn't want to see him ... I'm not sure if this last photo session was or not their last time together but there were not so many o-port-unities to be all of them together ... for ... for what exactly? ... busy Ness? ... which one? ... after all George and John invited Phil to do the Let It Be without telling Paul ... their relations were quite bad by early 1970 ...
... in the 70s it was impossible ... well, the Threetles, yep, ... at Eric and Pattie's wedding ... and three of them recording several times ... The Guys together again? ... who knows? ... but history tells us that this one was -sadly- the last one ...
... at least we can see some (shy) smile there ... and funny moments too ...
There was one last business meeting but George wasn't there so all four weren't together for that. I'll give you the date later if you're interested. After that there was no reason or inclination for them to all get together.
you remember the something video????paul was in scotland for that...i doubt the rest we seeing each other either......regardless if paul was the only problem why didn't the other 3 do so9mething??????because...lennon was done already...so it was john who killed the beatles in reality and paul only finished the paper work....there you have it...it was lennons ego.....or yokos....and paul for trying to have one after being tolerant all those years.....ok i admitted it...this will be the last time i have to say that...if you say i said that after today i will deny it....peace and love to you brothers and sisters.......
john was a coward regarding things like this. ...he always seemed to be good at blocking out things he didn't want to deal with.....
In fairness to John cowardly implies he was making some kind of conscious decision. I don't think that was the case. The poor guy had trouble hanging on to people he loved and his head dealt with it in not the nicest way possible. He must have spent more than a few nights staring at the ceiling.
Just thinking some more about this. When you think his father deserted him, his mum, Stuart and Brian all died. I think Cynthia was just a stop-gap. His relationship with Yoko was obviously life-and-death for him. His relationships seem very important to him. So how was he able to desert and scorn Paul, the one person who you would have thought John would have been the closest? But I guess it could have been Paul, who I've always thought of as kind of self-sufficent and a bit distant. He didn't need people in the way John did.
yes, John had a lot to deal with in his life....and I do feel really sorry for him and let this be his excuse....but there are times when I just can't accept the way he behaved. In the end he was only human, think I get sick of people putting him on a pedestal, even if this all sounds weird, he's still my favourite one ..... ......wait a minute.....Kevin? wasn't you the one who didn't like John as much? Thanx for defending John
... I'm not sure if this last photo session was or not their last time together but there were not so many o-port-unities to be all of them together ... for ... for what exactly? ... busy Ness? ... which one? ...
When did John tell Paul he was leaving the band? ... in September, right? ... Were the other two there too? ... Their "Last Time Together"? ...
