I usually have this rule that I don't take 'best album ever' lists seriously if Pet Sounds isn't in the top 5, but since this is a Beatles board and it's the highest album not by the Beatles, I can live with it.

nice! but just out of curiousity, the albums like Bob Dylan's are all in a row. did they get voted in that way or did they just get all the same number of votes and you decided to put them together?

being a U2 fan, i find it hilarious that October beat out Actung Baby.

Forget about the Beatles.  Van Morrison's Astral Weeks is so good it appears twice in the top 100 (nos. 91 and 97).   Now that's a truly great album!

I'd say he sounds like a mixture of the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and Nick Drake.

He's made six albums. Roman Candle, Elliott Smith and Either/Or are all home recordings with little more than whispered vocals and acoustic guitars. XO, Figure 8 and From A Basement On The Hill are big budget albums that remind more of Sgt. Pepper/White Album/Abbey Road.

XO is easily my favorite, but I know most fans prefer Either/Or. So those are probably the best albums to start with.

They all had the same amount of votes so I just placed them alphebetical when that happened. I was debating if that was the best thing to do, but couldn't think of anything else that would be fair.
