Wings Over America is one of the great classic rock live albums of all time, but is overshadowed it seems by others of the 70's like Frampton Comes Alive. WOA is Paul & his band Wings at their finest, at the height of their prowess, way back in 76, with solid live tracks. I got it for Christmas, when it was first released, during my youth & it's much better, personally speaking, than Tripping The Live Fantastic, Paul Is Live & Back In The U. S. as a McCartney live album.
I want you, I want you so bad babe. I want you, I want you so bad. It's driving me mad, it's driving me mad.
I agree pretty much with that, though "Tripping" has some fine moments plus Paul voice was 14 years older. I never did care for Hamish Stuart, but I thought Robbie McIntosh was great. Jimmy McCulluoch gave the band a much more raw/harder edge to it, his Gibson SG broke into distorted harmonics, so it was a much heavier sound. And "Soily" kicks total a**, brass section and all--everyone just raged. Great stuff.
I remember WOA being HUGE when it came out - it started a whole new trend of a live album doubling as a greatest hits package. Peter Frampton was a wierd one - came from nowhere to become one of the biggest sellers of alltime. (there were rumours at the time that it had subliminal messaging (true) cos noone could work out why it was seling so well. Most people hadn't even heard of the guy).

You hit the nail on the head juniorsfarm, after the classic Alive by Kiss, live albums exploded in those days, but Wings Over America is slightly ignored sadly.
