The bass palyer for Free joined them at 15, so it should be interesting to see if the partying is cut back on the road. Eddie's son is 14-15. Also, I know it was a different time with Free. Michael Anthony Should be with V.H.
I was just looking at Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Poor Eddie Van Halen. He's number 70. Just two places above Joni Mitchell. And who's above him? Lou Reed, Kurt Cobain, Ron Asheton (of The Stooges), not to mention Ike Turner, Carlos Santana, Jack White and The Edge. However, he did beat out Neil Young and David Gilmour.
I did like Richard Thompson at number 19 and George Harrison at 21.

Report: VAN HALEN Tour 'Postponed Indefinitely' - Feb. 20, 2007 According to Pollstar.com, the VAN HALEN tour that was never officially announced is now officially postponed indefinitely. The rumored tour took on an air of reality after a trade magazine announced that original singer David Lee Roth was about to sign on the dotted line, and that was soon followed by a press release via Eddie Van Halen's spokeswoman-slash-girlfriend. Unfortunately, the worldwide frenzy of a VH reunion was too good to be true, at least for the present day. However, there was a lot of paper getting inked and Pollstar states that a tour announcement might not have been far off.
A few days ago, RollingStone.com uploaded the first official photo of the new VAN HALEN lineup, featuring the group's new bassist Wolfgang Van Halen (son of VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen). Check it out at this location.
Melodicrock & the VHND address the Tour Postponement Rumors February 21st, 2007
A new rumor has been circulating that says the Van Halen tour has been "indefinitely postponed". But don't worry - the tour will very likely still happen this summer.
Melodicrock.com issued a Van Halen update in response to the rumors yesterday, saying in part:
"I am told that this postponement should be just that - a temporary situation that can be sorted so that the dates that had been arranged can be re-booked and announced down the track somewhat. The band is unlikely to comment beyond the fact the tour will (at this stage) start later than originally planned. The line-up for this tour remains Eddie, Wolfgang & Alex Van Halen and frontman David Lee Roth."
Also, the VHND's own sources are telling us not to worry and that the tour is indeed going to happen. We know that the date that the tickets were to go on sale has been pushed back from late February to sometime in March. We are hoping that the main reason for this delay is to coincide the official announcement of tour dates with Van Halen's March 12th induction to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Another rumor we want to address - we are surprised to see that some websites are saying that Van Halen is currently being managed by Eddie's girlfriend (Janie Liszewski/High Profile Media). While it is true that Eddie's girlfriend is the band's publicist, the band's manager for the last three years is Irving Azoff.
So I'm watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thing live. It's been on for about three hours already. Anyway, I'm really only watching for Van Halen but so far it's been really good. Keith Richards inducting the Ronnettes was funny. He made some joke about advances in medical science making it possible for him to be there. Cute. Patti Smith was cool. The classic performances they've been playing throughout cuz there aren't any commercial breaks have been pretty awesome too. They even played clips of George and Ringo at the Beatles induction, Paul inducting Lennon and his own induction. That was cool if not a little sad.
SO three hours in comes the Van Halen induction. Velvet Revolver inducts them. Very poorly too I might add. Five guys and not one of them said anything interesting. But the worst was yet to come. They introduce the band and who comes out? Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar. WHAT THE f*** IS THAT???!!! I know Eddie's in freaking rehab, but where's Dave and Alex??? What a DISAPOINTMENT!! With all this Van Halen reunion stuff that's been going around, I expected WAY more than that! Then Velvet Revolver does Ain't Talking 'Bout Love which would have been okay if Scott Weiland didn't sing it like he was doing opera and if he'd give UP that STUPID K-Mart Mick Jagger dancing impersonation he loves to do. When they were done some guy in the audience yells out, "That wasn't Van Halen!" Yeah, no kidding. But then no better was when Sammy and Michael came out and did Why Can't This Be Love. And they say Dave's lost his voice? Sammy sounded like crap. I never liked him to begin with, but jeez, this was just painful. I did think it was cool that Sammy was wearing a Van Halen shirt with Dave on it. Classy of him. When they interviewed them backstage they said they were both surprised Dave wasn't there. Wonder what's up? Sammy even said they need to give the fans a reunion with Dave. He's right! They were even asking Keith Richards why Van Halen can't seem to get it together! Being a fan of this band never ceases to be frustrating. We never get a break!! So in other words, it sucked. All that excitement for nothing!
It was actually a pretty good show. Loved Eddie Vedder's induction of R.E.M. Even though it was extremely long. Cool that he said he wished it were Kurt Cobain doing the speech instead and how he would have loved to have been second choice. Eddie rules. Loved when he sang Man on the Moon with R.E.M.! (Hey baby, are ya havin' fun) Anyway, I think the inductees this year were pretty good. Great finale. Patti Smith doing the Stooges I Wanna Be Your Dog with R.E.M. and then they ALL came out to do The People Have the Power. NICE! Even Sammy sounded okay. Ronnie Spector didn't, but oh well. It's a punk song. Anything goes. Guitar solo by Stephen Stills and Keith Richards while Grandmaster Flash dances around? Sureal. The worst part of the show was the Van Halen segment. Hands down. But only because they weren't there. They're still awesome. The clip of While My Guitar Gently Weeps was cool. It blew everything else away. What does that tell you?

Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love by VR was horrible!...even if the guy hadn't done his mick jagger thing...it sounded awful...i even think slash fucked up in the intro, but then again slash's style ain't the same as EVH's...as for the michael anthony/sammy hagar song i didn't expect too much, they probably just did it for fun anyways...I never get my hopes high for the RRHOF anyways... As for Eddie going into rehab, it's probably the best news about van halen in a long time...Hope he gets better, plays better than ever and that the CLASSIC VH lineup (including MA) will record and tour in 2008
