You don't have to like/hate the band, just their name.

Best:

The Beatles (alternative spellings are cool)
The Barenaked Ladies (They are neither naked nor ladies, just regular guys, which is why this works)
Black Sabbath
Cansei der Ser Sexy (It means, 'Tired of Being Sexy')
Led Zeppelin
23 Skidoo (just awesome! I love that saying...)
The Velvet Underground
Harry and the Potters
The Pretty Things
Evergreen Terrace (gotta love a Simpsons reference)
Joy Division
The Tragically Hip
Pretty Girls Make Graves
Faster Pussycat (my friend loves them! And i get the reference now...)
Veruca Salt (Roald Dahl RULES!)

Worst:

Blue
Peter, Paul and Mary (Wonder how long it took them to come up with that one? )
Canned Hamm
Sum 41
The Misfits (naming yourself after a Marilyn Monroe movie... how punk)
Bloodhound Gang
t.A.t.U.
The Hollies (prissy sounding)
Hanson
The La's
3LW
Boyz II Men (I don't think I need to explain why this sucks)
Lipps Inc
Lillix
The Like
The Guess Who (c'mon, guys, there's already a band called the Who)
Yes
Chicago
O-Town
5ive (very creative )
Arctic Monkeys

Decide for yourself:

Satan's Penguins
The Terror of Tiny Town
Chocolate Bunnies From Hell (yes, they are a real band)
Dogs Die in Hot Cars
Holy f*** (Canadian band... I don't know how they got away with this name)
Jimmy and the Squids
The Groovie Ghoulies

You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.

I've always thought the name Rage Against the Machine was really cool. Not too crazy about the band though. Those last bunch of names suck. But I guess they're running out of ideas at this point.

I really like all the ones that you posted, BP. I guess that's just my weird sense of humour.

I like all of them as well.

I'm not sure though if I would want to play in a band with any of those names.

Ah, yes. Dutch punk and metal bands are usually very subtile with band names.

Buffelkut
Balthasar Gerards Kommando
Tedje & De Flikkers
Kutschurft
Neuk!
Malle Pietje & De Bimbo's
Kringspiertyfus
Stijf Lijk
Schijten Met Een Stijve
Slokdarmpoep

I'm not even going to translate those cause most of them don't even sound half as cool in English. But most of them have something to do with private parts and/or nasty diseases.

I think that name actually does make sense, since one of their early songs was called "Who Killed Marilyn?" and "The Misfits" was MM's last movie.

I think Radiohead is a good name. If you have a 'radiohead' it means you're too ugly to be on TV.

Yeah, I do interviews and write reviews for a Dutch/Belgian rock magazine called Up Magazine, on a voluntary base. I cover the melodic punk rock genre (mostly the Fat Wreck Chords type of stuff). It's a lot of work for no money, but I get to interview all my favorite bands, get lots of free CDs and concert tickets, and of course it's pretty cool to have your opinions read by thousands of people.

That's Ed King on the far left.  He later joined Lynyrd Skynyrd and co-wrote Sweet Home Alabama (that's him on the intro) and others.  I'd say Skynyrd is a good band name.

Best name I've seen recently is Danish band: '...and you will know us by the trail of dead'.

I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
