I don't consider much of my music to be 'weird' although some people at my school seem to think it is. But I have to admit there are a few albums that are just plain strange.

Canned Hamm- I cannnot even begin to explain this band... one word: 'Poptronica'.

Harry and the Potters- all of their songs are about the Harry Potter books! pretty good actually. My dad says it is the kind of music that dorky kids would put on during a road trip and everyone would sing along.

I also own a Best of John Travolta CD which should be self explanatory.

You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.

108 "Songs Of Seperation": What do you get when Hare Krishna devotees decide to start a hardcore/metal band to get their message accross? Well, this.

The Stinky Puffs "A Little Tiny Smelly Bit Of...": what do you get when two 12 year old kids form a band with their parents and 2/3 of Nirvana? Well, this.

V/A "Dynamite With A Laser Beam": what do you get when you ask 16 grindcore and noisecore bands to butcher a Queen song? Well, this.

V/A "The World Still Won't Listen": what do you get when you ask 18 hardcore/punk bands to do a Smiths cover? Well, this.

V/A "Short Music For Short People": and what do you get when you ask 101 punk bands to each record a 30 second song for a compilation? Well, this.

I'd be interested to know what you considered weird about these albums?

My favorite weird album is "Songs of the Stevedore" by "Stevedore Steve."

"Roll out the gangplanks and all hands aboard
trim the derricks round, boy, hear the lynches roar,
and open up that tackle and get those things aboard
we're hard-driving, rough-and-tumble rugged stevedores . . ."

Another song is a recitation about how Bill Funday gets a load dropped on him on Black Monday and is left a babbling drunken fool.

But the best thing about the album is an autograph: "To a mighty fine little gal, Ronnie, 'Stevedore' Steve."

My other favorite weird album is an early Jimmy Swaggart sermon album in which he blames the "curse" on the Kennedy family on some passage in the old testament which relates somehow to Joe Kennedy's rum-rumming in the 20s.

Topographic Oceans has some fine melodies, but it's a drag to listen to from start to finish.

Topographic is like going to the dentest ,you get there its nice, your sat next to the fish tank its calm, then it gets nervy, they call you in, now your sweating [third side] Then the teeth pulling[side four] then its all over,it was`nt that bad after all

Good way to put it. Wakeman's keyboards pad it out very nicely. Curious considering he was against the mystical spiritual input. Rick is a Christian. He left I think because of TFTO and I think because of it's attempted grandioseness and lyrics. And I read a long time ago that around about then Yes were going on tour and eating at seperate tables in the same restaurant! Anyway, the keyboards ebb and flow nicely throughout.

Saw RICK and JON ANDERSON on tour last mounth at palace thearter manchester, they were brilliant.RICK was on form he said that one of his wifes filed a divorce because his did`nt open the car door, he said he panic`ed and swam to the top!
