This song has always been one of my favourites. Nice harmonies. Sadly often forgotten...

One of my favorites and yes, it's an overlooked little gem.
John wrote it while on tour and has said it's a deeply personal song.

John: You're just a lonely old man from Liverpool.
Grandfather: But I'm clean!
John: Are ya?

It's one of their most mediocre songs during the height of Beatlemania, but it's better than anything out these days.

I want you, I want you so bad babe.  I want you, I want you so bad.  It's driving me mad, it's driving me mad.

I love Lennon's melancholic vocal, and Mccartney's input is spot on:

"Though tonight she's made me sad
I still love her
If I find her I'll be glad
I still love her"

Whats the matter lads? Blue Meanies?

Not really.  It heralded what was about to happen with Rubber Soul.  I've always liked this song.

I agree with you here.

I just watched RAIN perform this song (at a Peru Beatlefest!) on YOUTUBE, they sound fantastic. (I think they're the best sound alike Beatles band)

Rain have been going for years!!! If memeory serves, they even performed the Beatles music in the film "Birth of the Beatles".

Ssarah, an ex-regular poster on the forum, went to see them in NYC some years back - in fact I posted some pics for her:
