Strange. Heather demands 10,000 pounds a day! Heather Mills is always going on about charities and people dying and starving and she claims she needs 3.5 million a year just to live on.
SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY and estranged wife HEATHER MILLS are still friends and the former BEATLE sent a bouquet of flowers to mark the former model's debut on US reality TV show DANCING WITH THE STARS. Despite media reports of a bitter battle between the pair - who split last year (06) after four years of marriage - Mills insists relations between her and MCCartney are amicable, and blames the rocker's lawyers for dragging out their divorce. She told talk show host LARRY KING last night (20MAR07) about MCCartney's gift: "It was nice. "There was a card that read, 'Dear Mummy, love Daddy and BEATRICE.' "We still have a friendship, it's just the lawyers who are nasty. Not on my side, but on his side. There's one woman. "The lawyer, FIONA SHACKLETON, wants to drag it out to fill her pockets. She has said some mean things. She wants to make it as difficult as possible." She adds of her split from MCCartney, "I still love him. He's the father of my child. But you can love someone and not be right for each other and have to move on. "It's like a death. You marry someone because you are madly in love. We had a beautiful child after I'd had ectopic pregnancies and a miscarriage. "We were together for seven years. We tried and tried and tried. But sometimes you have to say, 'It's not working.'"
I completely agree that some attorneys deliberately draw out a case and escalate tensions for personal gain. Personal experience is talking here.
However, it does not explain some of the nasty things I've also been seeing in the press-- the McFartney cartoon, etc. You're telling me the lawyer made this up? Or the media has been making this up, and we've all been deceived? It's hard to believe all of this is coming from one lawyer (out of a cast of tens, probably).
On the other hand, people get very, very angry in a divorce situation, even if they try to keep it amicable. I think it's part of the splitting-up process. Let's hope these things were all said in anger, but that anger is spent and they're both ready to move on. "Hope" being the operative word here.

Oh, yes, I realized that! I just wondered if anyone wanted to discuss this article-- this part did not seem very credible to me.

All this talk in the press i tend to ignore and not believe. Why would a guy who sang about love all his life suddenly harm his wife in such horrible circumstances. I from the beggining when they got married felt joy for Macca and his happinss. but i personally think the age diffrence caught up with them! Heather is a very active person who i think wants so much in life (money maybe!) but Macca wants to slow down a bit even though he loves still going out touring. I was speaking to a fan-friend not long back who met Macca just a few years before Linda's death and he said how much 'complete rubbish' it is that Macca would harm anyone, after what i read about some tapes of Linda apparently claiming she was abused. Heather is a very tough person who wants her own way i feel. It is tough for Macca in the position that he is in to have a proper relationship because of his fame. the press are always sniffing around. Give Macca a break!!!
the press should take notes on George's 1976 solo song "See Yourslf":
It's easier to critisize somebody else, than to see yourself"!

Nice post, Andy. I'm also inclined to give Paul the benefit of the doubt. I can see him browbeating someone, but not beating them. Nothing in his history suggests that he would.
I believe the Linda tapes (and forgive me if I have this wrong) were about Paul basically being too controlling in her life. That is a situation that certainly fit with some of the reasons behind the Beatles' break-up and some Wings people leaving, too. There is evidence that Paul had very strong opinions on how he wanted things to be. This makes him a challenge to live with, not a wife beater. That's a whole other animal. I'm not saying that someone can't be psychologically abused, but I think "abuse" is a loaded term and we have to be careful how we use it. ("we" including the media in this case.)

Yeah, i do do see it from your point of view Harihead. Maybe it was a bit too much when Linda joined Wings and going out with him touring in the late 80's/early 90's. Paul did confess he was a bit too controlling when Linda was trying to concentrate on her photography & cooking. But Linda did say she enjoyed the tours etc. I think if anything bad happened maybe some of the wings members would have spoke up. I also think John was a bit too controlling on Yoko (maybe). i think when Yoko had a break-up period with him in 73 (?), John was relying on her too much, so she needed a break. I think Macca felt quite lonely after Linda died & needed to be with someone & found Heather. I do think he jumped into conclusions a bit too quick with the marriage etc. He has always been my favourite of the four and i always prefered his solo records the best. but i can say 'with hand on heart', he is not a bad person!

Can’t buy me off for £20m, Mills tells McCartney Frances Gibb, Legal Editor
Sir Paul McCartney has offered £20 million to Heather Mills — and she in turn has said that she will accept £50 million, The Times has learnt.
The keenly awaited divorce settlement was predicted at one stage to result in the former Beatle paying as much as £100 to £200 million to his estranged wife.
But after recent court hearings the gap between the two is £30 million, with a likely final settlement for Ms Mills in the region of £25 to £30 million out of Sir Paul’s £825 million fortune.
Yet despite the relative closeness of the figures, the case could still be battled out in court.
It is listed for a five-day hearing next February, before Mr Justice Bennett, a family High Court judge, and some lawyers believe a pre-trial settlement is unlikely.
One lawyer said: “It could well go to trial because they are both quite stubborn.”
He added: “Five days is only a relatively short hearing but then the issues are fairly straightforward and it was a short marriage.”
Both Sir Paul, 65, and Ms Mills, 39, a former model, have lined up top legal teams, using the same lawyers who acted against each other in the divorce of the Prince of Wales and Diana, the Princess of Wales.
Sir Paul has hired Fiona Shackleton, known as the “steel magnolia”, from Payne Hicks Beach and who acted for Prince Charles; and Ms Mills has recruited Anthony Julius, of Mishcon de Reya, who acted for the Princess.
Neither would comment yesterday.
In February this year there was a flurry of speculation that a deal was imminent. But no agreement has yet been reached.
A factor in any deal will be adequate provision for the couple’s child, Beatrice.
Suzanne Kingston, family lawyer at Kingstons, a London law firm, said: “A settlement of £25 million or so would be much less than the sums people had been talking about but many lawyers would think that this was an appropriate figure.”
If the settlement was fought out in court, then a judge would list a range of factors, including length of the marriage, whether the assets were acquired before marriage or during it and the parties’ needs.
“In the case of Sir Paul, the bulk of the assets would have been acquired before the marriage and a judge might well decide therefore to discount those.”
She said that since the recent House of Lords case of Miller v Miller, a divorced wife in a short marriage could still obtain a large settlement.
Melissa Miller was awarded more than £5 million after a marriage of less than three years from her husband Alan’s estimated assets of £32 million.
But Ms Kingston said: “The key difference with the McCartneys is that there is a child and Sir Paul will have to ensure that there is proper provision for her.”

I know Paul said he was planning on touring next year, but the divorce seems to have went up a notch I believe & I don't expect him to tour until 09 to be honest.
I want you, I want you so bad babe. I want you, I want you so bad. It's driving me mad, it's driving me mad.

Good grief. I'm so glad I'm not famous.
The database isn't printing the characters properly, but I think they're saying Mills might get 25 million? Tough times! Gosh, I hope she would be able to support the kid on that.
