What was Jimi Hendrix's original name?

Was Jimi left-handed or right-handed? (I read in a booklet contained in the DVD/CD set Jimi Hendrix Feedback that he was right-handed, but on the net that he was left-handed)

Which artist did Jimi play guitar for on his 1970 album?

The reason for the first question is what I recently learned from the net:

His original name was Johnny Allen Hendrix, as named by his mother. His father later changed it to James Marshall Hendrix. I read in the booklet with Jimi Hendrix Feedback DVD/CD that it was Johnny Allen Hendrix. I even wondered if this package was fake, but then checked it out on the net. Here is one website that can confirm it.

Interesting. I never knew that.

I'm still not convinced on the second question by anything I've read.

Third question hint:

He was and (presumably) still is in a supergroup.

A supergroup? is that a group with members from already famous bands?
and i can guarentee he was a left hand guitarist...and what about the first one? i'm not sure which one you would take as his name was changed, but i spoe that doesn't really matter.i would have gone for james marshall..

Yes, that's a supergroup.

I agree - James Marshall Hendrix is surely correct. I just find it an interesting fact.

But Johnny Allen Hendrix is his true original name. Jimi's father had it legally changed. I found that on another site, but sorry I'm too tired right now to relocate it.

I won't say yet who it was, so the others might have a guess. But, as far as I know it's the only time Hendrix appeared on another artist's album after he became famous. A really good song too. Bluesy.

That booklet I've got says 'Although Jimi wrote with his right hand he played guitar with his left.' Presumably, to get more control over the neck with his right hand.

He was Johnny Allen first, but not since because his name was changed legally.

Hello Mr. kite. CSN's first album is a classic. I love it. They never reached the same standard with subsequent albums though IMO. I like the other stuff though too. I've also got the 4-CD box set. Loads of previously unreleased really good stuff on that.

I like Hendrix a lot. Have you got the 4-CD book set? I'd really like to know what it's like. Now, in Britain, it's been reduced in price in one shop (HMV) and contains a DVD of live performances too in a new edition. Lots of alternate takes and some previously unreleased stuff on the CDs.

i believe jimi actually instigated the name change...
