Not sure if this thread belongs here or in the other artists forum. But, I'm going to see the Bootleg Beatles next week. I'll post a review of the concert. I'm looking forward to it. I saw them about ten or eleven years ago. They are very impressive.

I remember you telling us something about them ... I saw a show of them (well, it was just a part of a documentary on TV) some years ago ... they sounded good doing Come Together ... enjoy it, GreenApple!

When I saw them, the audience were going wild. Made it so exciting.

The audience weren't going wild, but they had a great time. Shortly into the set, 'John' or 'Paul' asked the ladies to scream. They did a bit. They did the usual thing of changing costumes appropriately through the set. Halfway through it got really warmed up as concerts do. Then it went into the later Beatles stuff which I basically prefer. Through the concert, at times I could close my eyes and hear better how similar they sound to the guys.

Great renditions of Get Back and Don't Let Me Down. 'John' mentioned Yoko and some boos came from the audience to which 'John' said 'That's my wife you know!' I know Ringo wasn't a great singer, but 'Ringo' was worse than that. Maybe to emphasize Ringo's out of tune voice. A Little Help From My friends and Yellow Submarine. 'John' was at the keyboard a lot. 'George' did the LOVE version of WMGGW with the string quartet. But not so many George songs. There was a brass section too for other songs. A Day In The Life was performed, with images of Britain shooting fast 'into' London for the first orchestral part, and then out again for the second orchestral part.  A very rousing rendition of Hey Jude, which brought the audience to their feet to sing along. Images and footage from the sixties was shown on a white screen that came down.

'John' and 'Paul' were the most convincing for looks, voice, and body language. I could see that 'John' expressed well the changed, more relaxed body language of the later Beatles days. George and Ringo were less convincing.

Golden Slumbers to The End before the encore. Of course, the drummer couldn't touch Ringo for the drum solo or any of the drumming. But, that's because Ringo is a great drummer as we know! Further proof if ever it were needed.

'John' came back for the encore to do a toucing Imagine. Then the rest came back. A few more songs, then they finished with Twist And Shout. I was hoping for Free As A Bird, which they did last time I saw them after the single of that song. As the audience were leaving, Christmas Time Is Here Again was played through the speakers.

Not quite as true to the originals as the first time I saw them, as I recall. But, these guys have been doing it for a long time. So, maybe they've relaxed it a bit. But still very enjoyable. So, I'd recommend anyone to see these guys if they get the chance. Worth every penny spent on the ticket.

So they did Imagime and While My Guitar Gently Weeps (LOVE version) ... I expected they would only play songs released during the 60s ... anyway, acchording to your review they sound too professional ... I remember them playing Roll Over Beethoven and the guitar intro was almost identical to the cover we all know ...

I expected the same. I think the idea is that they should sound as much like the original releases as possible. As I said, they sounded a bit less like that than last time, as I recall. I suppose they can bend it a bit and do post-Beatles songs. After all, it's not a fantasy. But, as close as it can get I suppose.

The drummer couldn't play the 'solo' in the end? Come one GA, that's hard to believe, even i can do it, and i'm not even a drummer..he was no ginger baker..i'm not saying he's not a great character/musician or part of the beatles, he's not hugley talented though, and i find that hard to believe.

Glad you had a good time though! Wouldn't mind hearing what the love version of WMGGW sounded like.

Of course he played it. But not like Ringo. Just didn't have the feel of Ringo's drumming on The End. And throughout of course he didn't play like Ringo can. If there was a weakness, it was the drummer's drumming. I'd like to see you playing drums like Ringo, even if you're not a drummer. And then you agreed that Ringo is a great musician. If you can really play like Ringo, I'd believe it if I could see and hear it. We could be getting into the question of the quality of Ringo's drumming, which I'm sure we've had and discussed before.

WMGGW was good, with the strings doing those lovely swoops, if that's what they are. Last time I saw them 'George' did it with just guitar. I remember that being better.

Sorry i think i misunderstood you apps, i thoought you ment the drummer couldn't even accomplish the fairly 'simple' end drum solo, but obviously he just didn't have the feel is what your talking about..I don't claim to play drums like ringo, and admit he has got a very special certain style (ranging from i saw her standing there, to octopus' garden, to never without you or ringorama), although it isn't very sophisticated, in my opinion. I like Ringo's personailty and he has great style as a songwriter, singer, and his drums are groovy as well..so maybe now you see why i thought it was odd that a drummer in a tribute band, who's played for a very long time could not even play the end solo?

Sure, I see what you mean. It was Ringo's feel and the originality of his fills that makes him great. No worries.

Unfortunately I don't have that album. But I might have heard some of it on Beatles-A-Rama!!! I've got the Ringo album, and there's some really good stuff on it. Including Ringo's compositions.

Yeah ringo is a great album as well, and i think ringorama and ringo are his best ones..i have't heard choose love yet and his 80's pop stuff is supposed to be crap although i'm sure one day i'll end up getting it all!)..anyway you must get ringorama, it has such a cool vibe and feeling to it, and never without you is beautiful (dedicated to George), and even has the solo by clapton in it.
