I like your avi, what made you change it? Thought you're a Paul-girl

If you ever want to have an animated avi, let me know - I love creating those.

Sorry I never answered you Kate! I didn't think to even check this mailbox. I was going to ask that you delete it anyway! I don't need one. As for my avatar. I just love that pic of John and I'm going through a John phase right now so that accounts for the change. At least I still have the Paul sig. Which may change soon too however. I might do a Rick Danko one! That's another phase I'm in.

Why aren't you on PFO much anymore? It's getting interesting, one of the mods has been harassing the female member base and the few people who know aren't saying anything about it, so I've been hassling him and getting myself in a lot of trouble. Fun stuff. I've called him everything from "pervert" to "delusional" to "a**hole".

Huh? I've been there. I was just there! How did I miss all that? You haven't been there. There were even posts about people worrying where you were and all. Well now I need to go check this out. A mod? Hmmm, can't wait to see which one.

Hey Sandra, I know a project you could do with your students. Making ice cream in a baggie with ice cubes, cream, milk and sugar. It's really easy. My science teacher did it with my class and most of us have the maturity of a grade two student if not lower. I can post the instructions if you want.

Hope you liked the Band DVD.  There's also a great "How to Play Bass Guitar" video that Rick did in the 80s.  He's half-cocked but he's really cool talking about groove and working with a drummer.  It's the most ill-conceived instructional video I've ever seen.  Rick just sits down and starts talking about bass and playing some stuff.  But it's hilarious.  Totally off the top of his pretty high head.  I think it's on homespun videos or something Happy Traum put out.

I haven't received the Band DVD yet! UPS sucks. I have to go pick it up on Tuesday. I saw that bass playing one but didn't know if I wanted to get it. It looks like it might be a little depressing. Levon has one too. Have you seen that one? I keep hearing he's bankrupt these days but I find that hard to believe. But then why else would they put out videos like that!

I've been thinking about doing that again. I did it a few years ago and I think it turned out ok. I can't remember. Even if it doesn't kids will eat just about anything. BTW, I think you're a little more mature than most of my second graders. I don't know about your friends though.

Since the mods wouldn't do anything and kept deleting my posts, I changed my signature (temporarily) to "Wow, Greg (the mod in question's name), I just checked out your myspace and your daughter is HAWT." and they said if I didn't change it (mods can't change signatures) I'd be banned, and I said "make me" so I got banned. But we're starting a new forum, me and a few other good members, if you wanna join:

http://z6.invisionfree.com/Pieland_Forums/index.php?

I came up with the name.

Here's a pic of my classroom bookcase. Can you spot the thirty Beatles related items? Heh. It's like Where's Waldo. There's actually more than thirty but some are covered up. And I've been wondering why people at my school think I'm obsessed!

Heh. At my parent conferences last week the parents kept thanking me for getting their kids into the Beatles. It's so funny. Most kids instantly love the Beatles as soon as they hear them. All I have to do is play them a few songs, show them The Yellow Submarine and they're hooked. That's true genius.

Here's a story to show how dumb I am. So every now and then at my school the co head of school brings prospective families around to classes in order to check out our school. Sometimes we know and sometimes we don't. I hate when she does this. Anyway, last week a nice African American family came into my classroom during math. But I was annoyed because she didn't let me know. Anyway, she asked me to explain my lesson and I was sort of quick about it and didn't really say much. But they were in my class for quite a while chatting with her and my assistant. So today I was talking to her and she says all excited, "so what did you think of the last family I brought in?" And she has this huge smile on her face like I should be impressed or something. I didn't even remember at first that she had come in so I'm like "who? when?" So she looks at me like I'm crazy and says,"You didn't recognize him?" I'm like, "no, who?" And now I'm really wondering. So she laughs and says, "Stevie Wonder!" Which just shocked me! I'm like, "WHAT?!! No way!" Then she and the principal started laughing at me. She goes, "how could you not recognize this big guy standing there??" and the principal says, "it's a good thing we didn't bring in Paul McCartney!" Ha, ha. Needless to say, I now feel like a complete idiot! Plus, I missed out on seeing a freaking legend! My powers of observation are incredibly lacking. So I'm telling myself, well, maybe he looked different. Maybe he didn't have his braids in. So later on I asked the kids if they recognized him. After I said his name a lot of them were like, "oh yeah!" So I asked them if he had braids in. They're like, "YES! He had long braids and big black glasses on!" How I missed that I will never know. I think I need my head examined.

I'm only sharing this because you guys are fellow music lovers and probably could appreciate how stupid I feel. i want to smack myself unconscious. I really do.

You don't even know. The more I think about it, the more I want to cry! I mean, finally, something really cool happens in my boring life and it's right in front of my face and I completely miss it!! They must have been in my room for ten minutes at least. My one chance of seeing a music legend up close and I'm clueless. I didn't even look at him when I was talking. I just focused on some woman. Stupid!! But that's what I do when people come to observe me. I get too nervous so I cope by not really focusing on them. They usually just watch me teach. But she tells me today the reason she asked me to explain my lesson because HE CAN'T SEE! So I mean, I really feel like an a**. She usually doesn't ask me to explain the lesson so that really threw me off. I just got too nervous. Imagine if I knew it was him. Maybe it was better that I didn't. That's what I'm going to keep telling myself. Otherwise I might just go jump out a window. I hate me.

Don't hate you. You probably sounded like a proper kick a** teacher not even phased by the Wonder himself. He'll probably want his kids in your class.

I so understand this. It's a matter of context. I don't recognize people in the grocery store even if I work with them-- they're in the wrong place. So I can understand not expecting Stevie Wonder, oh, in your classroom. It would have been nice if you'd had some warning, though.

I think this is adorable-- also interesting! Perhaps there really was something to the Beatles after all that made them popular. It wasn't just hype!

Thanks Marie. I have a feeling that people think I'm either lying about this or bragging. I'm doing neither. I just thought it was something exciting to share amongst music fans. That's all really. I'm still bummed about it. But oh well. I keep praying he sends his kids to our school, but I highly doubt it. Wah.

Aw, don't feel bad! We all have blonde moments. At least you can say he was in your classroom. Anyway, maybe it's for the best. I don't know about you, but if I knew I was in the same room as Stevie Wonder I would have turned into a stammering idiot.
