I can't believe this but I posted the *same* article I wrote on here but with even more information with the strong factual information  on this site called,Listology. And unfortunately on there, more than a few are anti-Beatles and quote and listen to the totally ignorant inaccurate garbage Scaruffi writes about The Beatles. I had posted comments in other people's topics about this but  yesterday I wrote an article about this on my own. And one of the members on there wrote me several responses believing I'm a troll  and not for real! Just because I mentioned that The Beatles were not amatuers when they made it big,and that they played for 2 years 8 hours a night in the sleazy strip clubs of Hamburg Germany  wearing tight leather jackets and pants, smoking, cursing and hitting each other on stage, and going to bed with many young women groupies and taking speed pills to say awake. So he only quotes the part I wrote about their playing in Hamburg, taking speed pills and going to bed with groupies out of all of the great strong valid information I wrote!

I explained that the reason I pointed this out was because many people have the misperception that The Beatles were these innocent men compared to The Rolling Stones etc,and that this was just a fake cleaned up image that their manager Brian Epstein created and John hated this the and resented this the most. I also said the reason I mentioned their taking speed pills was to point out how hard they worked that they had to take speed pills just to stay awake and play 8 hours a night. He *still* said he though I could be a troll unreal!  And so he takes away my whole purpose of what I was trying to do and I really can't understand how anyone with any sense in their head  could believe I'm not for real after all of the strong valid great information I wrote. I even told him to type on google.com Dr.Glen Gass's Beatle course,The Beatles Recording Sesions book by Mark Lewisohn,Ozzy Osbourne being a huge Beatles fan etc to see what I'm saying is true. The owner of the site says he doesn't know me but he thinks I'm sincere. I think that other guy and I'm sure more  are not Beatles fans so they don't *want* to believe what I wrote is true and accurate! It's like Scaruffi himself,he doesn't want to have his ignorant  inaccurate bull about The Beatles corrected! I even told them to look up my posted topic about this on this site.

Nope, I agree with you... The Beatles were badasses. I mean, they did drugs and had orgys and everything. Not exactly Sunday School material.

You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.

They wore pants in Hamburg! Those evil motherf*ckers!
But you're right. The adoption of the squeeky clean image is a difficult one to counter, but I always mention that The Stones badboy look was just as contrived (they were nice middle class art college boys. Jagger sounds very posh when he lets his guard slip)

So true! He sounds stunningly posh on the Rutles interviews. It gave me a  !

Exactly, and The Rolling Stones were very good friends  with The Beatles and they hung out together. They could have even shared groupies!

The Beatles did wear tight black leather *pants* and jackets though  *years* before Jim Morrison of The Doors. The Beatles especially John smashed guitars in Hamburg Germany in 1960 years before The Who did it!  Even Brian Epstein was no angel in his private life,he was actually very sleazy and wild too. He had many gay one night stands and  sexually violent  affairs, and he even used call boy prostitutes!   Yet  when you see him interviewed he's so polite and refined and respectable! So he too  had a fake innocent image  and ironicaly he created *their* fake cleaned up image!

Also if you saw the whole, The Beatles Anthology video series, in one of the episodes they show a news filmed interview from June 1967  of Paul sitting  outside of his house and admitting he did LSD and liked it.  He was the first rock star to openly discuss taking LSD and he really flushed down the toilet the fake cleaned up image Brain created and this was just two months before Brian died,so Brian must have had a heart attack about this. The reporter asks him  how many times have you done LSD, and Paul says about four times, but who's counting. The reporter didn't  have to ask him how many times Paul did it,he was just trying to get TV ratings. But Paul denied he was going to an influence on young people to take drugs because he does. He said the responsibility was on the TV reporters and newspapers  for reporting it. And that they wanted him to be honest so he was being honest. He's a very  intelligent  guy he knew very well that The Beatles had a  tremendous influence on young people, at  that time they were like Gods and if they said it was good to jump off a bridge many young people would have done it.

At the time doing drugs socially was rather new so there wasn't really enough time to know the dangerous effects yet, this was before Jimi Hendrix,Janis Joplin,Jim Morrison etc died of overdoses. And there wasn't that many drug addicts going to rehabs yet. So I think he and the others really didn't care if young people did LSD and probably *wanted* them to and  this is probably what they meant when  John sang  I'd Love To Turn You On in a Day in The life.  Paul was also  interviewed in Time Magazine the same month and year and he said ludicrous things such as the world would be a better place if our world leaders took LSD. He had to be on LSD when he said this The reverend Billy Graham said Paul needed  to see a psychiatriist and he prayed for him.

Exactly right, except John was the one who talked about the sexual orgies back stage and  in hotel rooms with the young women groupies. Paul claims in his authorized biography Many Years From Now,that he never was an orgy man,he just liked to have plenty of one night stands by themselves
He probably did participtate in the orgies though.

Thank you you are such nice Beatles people on here! But it's really hard not to get serious about ignoramuses like Scaruffi and the ignoramuses who listen to him! But you are right  about one thing, I'd rather spend my time with people like all of you who *do* know how innovative, creative and  great The Beatles really were instead of trying to get through to totally ignorant anti-Beatles people!

Thank you so much and it's very true I *do* know very much about what I'm talking about. I really have done my homework I have been studying about The Beatles since I was 11 and I got my first Beatles book for my 11t birthday, and at  13  some boy at school lended to me and told me I could keep as long as I wanted, The Beatles by Hunter  Davies which was the only authorized biography with all four of them and their friends, wives,Paul and Jane Asher who were engaged to be married at the time, relatives,George Martin etc and it is still an excellent book!
