Anyone intereseted? A few of us have teams to follow (England, Holland????? Canada, NZ, Australia) For the purposes of the tournament I revert to Kiwi status (I'm only English for football) What with the rugby world cup approaching I predict an NZ double header.
It's beginning to look interesting now that Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif have been mysteriously left out of the Pakistan squad. Mind you, I see that Yasir Arafat is one of the replacements!!
Australia can't win at the moment, and England must be feeling more confident after the positive end to their tour.
I just wish I'd put a few quid on South Africa a few weeks ago. India as dark horses.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
Damn right. And two teams that can either play brilliantly well or collaspse like a house of cards. Despite our rivalries with Australia and South Africa, nothing matches beating the english. It has a joy all of its own.

More than beating Australia?
Beating the Aussies in anything means so much to the English because the Australians are so *ucking big headed. Could go to the line tomorrow against your lot. Anyone injured by any chance??

Definately. We actually have quite a big respect for Aussie sport, and it's had to survive a few dents (we almost went to war over the underarm incident in cricket). I think we identify as kindrid spirits. many many NZers migrate to Oz. We're a bit short on neighbours down there. the english have a bit of a bad rep in NZ. Seen as being a very negative, moaning lot (I pass no judgement). I remember in the 70's The Truth (a weekly version of The News Of The World/National Enquirer) ran a frontpage "punch a pom" campaign. We were beset with strikes (it was oil crisis, carless days times) and it seemed every striking union leader was a dour englishman in a long coat demanding more of this, more of that. And rugby wise we've never forgiven the English team for doing a lap of honour at Twickers because they only lost by 12 points or somesuch.
209 for 7. Excellent. Looks like Holland set for a hiding from SA. It's hard to see who benefits from such matches. Joost - is this getting any coverage in Holland?
Just off to the pub to watch England v Ireland on Sky.
Made me wonder, if Ed Joyce had never played for England, would he be allowed to play for Ireland and his County side? Ireland play in the Minor Counties, right?
Good win again for your lot Kev. Top of the bloody table!!

Australia will win the world cup. Our biggest competition at the moment are the New Zealanders but Australia are no strangers to winning the cup. More experience!

I agree that they're looking like hot favourites. More experience than who?

Even with a murdered coach and NZ doing so well the whole thing seems deadly dull. I think they should have played 2 matches a day during the super 8's. The crowds seem a bit thin too. Too far to travel or local apathy? During the NZ/Bangladesh game I heard the commentators talk about "power plays." I've never heard this in a cricket context before. It's becoming more like baseball everyday. To what do they allude?
The whole thing goes on for a ridiculously long time. The set up has definatley backfired. I thought once we were in the Super 8's the crowds would start showing up, but it's so expensive, and so far to travel from match to match. And you can't expect tourists to be out there for 6 or 7 weeks!
Looks like you're having a tough time of it today Kev? Bowling good?
