I had never heard this song til about a week ago and my impresssions of the song by just looking at the title were very wrong! I always thought it would be a pop-orietened song but come to find out to me its one of his most rocked-out song as a solo/wings member.

Is the song purely about sex? and is Paul really speaking of smoking pot during the chorus?? "We're gonna get Hi Hi Hi"!

Right ... and it's precisealley because of that that the song was banned   ...

It's not one of his great solo songs but after the break-up of The Guys Pau and his new band were still trying to find a way ... it was early 70s   ...

Either way its a really great tune.

I can't remember where I read this, but I remember Paul saying that it was banned because everyone thought he was singing "get you ready for my body gun" instead of "get you ready for my polygon".

Helen Wheels is about Pauls Land Rover, but you can look at the lyrics and get a different meaning from them. When I was young, I always thought it was about sex.

That would sound logical but if you listen to the song

It gose like this  Hellen Hellen ( Hell on Wheels!!!)

He felt out of touch & no body liked his music or him!

He missed being a Beatle & felt it was like being in Hell without them!

Linda convinced him--He is somebody--he did not need John or the Bealtes!

He had a great life & wife who suported him & fans that enjoyed wings--So carry on & fly woth the Wings!

No more Drinking & Hell!

That was his fat time & beard!

Good guess though!

Then why does hte lyrics state--

Hellen Hellen  (Hell) on wheels aint nobody Knows the way shefeels?

Get it No body know how they feel---

I supose you dont beleave that   ( I'm your tamberine man)  does not means drug dealer either!
The songs are in code--How does it talk of a landrover when they talk clearly of How they feel?

If you watch the Video there is alot of flame effects!

If you dont have it go to YOU TUBE

Ithink it is up there!

First of all, its Helen Wheels,,,,,no Hellen.

Second off, he's referring to the vehicle as a she.

Third off, Paul and Linda nicknamed their Land Rover "Hell-On-Wheels".

Fourth off,,,,why are you arguing with me about this. Can you not do a little homework and find out for yourself as to what the song means? If its imperative, i'll do it for you, but i'd really like for you to give it an honest shot first.

Ehhh, screw it.

Here's one of many sites that will give the answer to you.

http://www.jpgr.co.uk/r5993.html

Label Apple
Catalogue No. R 5993
Country of Origin England
Release Date 26th October 1973
U.K. Chart Detail : Entry Date : 3rd November 1973
Highest Position : 12
Weeks in Chart : 12 Weeks

Detail : Paul's eighth solo single.
Credited to "Paul McCartney & Wings"
This incarnation featuring : Paul, Linda, and Denny Laine. Henry McCullough and Denny Seiwell having just left the group.

Helen Wheels was the name Paul gave to his Land Rover, and the song tells the story of a trip from Paul's Scottish farm down to London.

Although Paul was down to a trio for the A-side, the B-side had already been recorded with all five members.

The track also appeared on the "Band On The Run" album in the states (against Paul's wishes !)

The single was not released in a picture sleeve, but was available in the yellow "Wings" cover.
