This was mentioned in Bob Spitz's book, The Beatles, and he said it was Ringo. John told him to literally beat the mess out of the drums, and so every take he was pounding away as hard as he could. After twenty-one takes, I would imagine that would form some blisters, as a drummer myself. Poor Ringo!

Although I wouldn't regard that as a reliable source, I think we all can agree that it was Ringo.
