I reckon there are a lot of things which the Beatles were able to do which only they could really have done, or carried off, or succeeded at. And the same goes for each individual Beatle. So, what is there?
I reckon only John Lennon could have got away with his famous quote ''Will the people in the cheaper seats clap your hands ? All the rest of you, if you'll just rattle your jewelry''
But every so often you come across something truly inspiring...
Only Paul could smooth over John's flippant comments to minimalize the damage with that charming grin of his!

"It's fear of the unknown. The unknown is what it is. And to be frightened of it is what sends everybody scurrying around chasing dreams, illusions, wars, peace, love, hate, all that--it's all illusion. Unknown is what it is. Accept that it's unknown and it's plain sailing. Everything is unknown--then you're ahead of the game. That's what it is. Right?”-JL
Only they could have released a double album in November and began to record a new one in January ...
Frank Zappa released a triple album set (1 + 2) - Joes Garage - in Sept and November 1979 and began recording his follow up (Tinsel Town Rebellion) that very month. Sorry, that took some work, but I had to find one.
I'm always confused with the whole American No1 claim.
Mccartney states that they would only tour America when they had a No 1 - and this happened with I Want To Hold Your Hand. Yet - Harrison says it was handy to have a number one hit, as they were already booked to go there after Paris.
So... had Epstein already planned the American tour regardless of a number one ..and then just been lucky in his timing ... Or... was the American tour quickly organised after I Want To Hold Your Hand had peaked at No 1 in America

Zappa regularly issued three albums a year in the early part of his career. 61 official releases during hiss lifetime!
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

Paul is just having some fun with the story. You're right when you say, "Epstein already planned the American tour regardless of a number one ..and then just been lucky in his timing ..." The timelines all back this up. Paul could not have anticipated that IWTHYH would go to number 1. The Beatles were all ecstatic in Paris when they heard the news, because they were fearing to flop!
All you've got to do is choose love. That's how I live it now. I learned a long time ago, I can feed the birds in my garden. I can't feed them all. -- Ringo Starr, Rolling Stone magazine, May 2007
