John was born on a Wednesday Paul was born on a Thursday George was born on a Thursday Ringo was born on a Sunday
Any suggestions on that?
Sure, I'm always up for mad theories!
Theory #1: Their birthdays roughly correspond to their relative ages and the time they joined the band.
Ringo - Sunday - as the first day of the week, this indicates that Ringo is oldest of the band, BUT Sunday is also the last day of the weekend, indicating that Ringo would be the last to join the band. That's why his Bday is Sunday instead of Tuesday, which would place him in correct relative age position to John.
John - Wednesday - The "hump day" clue above shows how important this birthday position is, foreshadowing the group's fantastic... success. And, of course, agewise Weds is between Sunday and Thursday.
Paul and George - Thursday - The fact that they were born on the same day emphasizes not only how close they were in age, but also foreshadows how in the future the moptops would so resemble each other that people would not be able to tell them apart. "You know, the tall one with the dark hair... oh, wait..."
Brilliant bus pass jokes. Thanks, everyone!

Are you unique in your family? Or are they all like you?
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
Okay, by popular request (is that the sound of one hand clapping?), I'm back with:
Theory #2: The day of the week each Beatle was born reflects his physical attribute in the band.
Ringo - Sunday - Shortest Paul - Thursday - Tallest George - Thursday - Thinnest John - Wednesday - Widest (this of course refers to John's stance while playing...)

Hahaha, I love your theories, harihead! By the way, you just answered a question I had for quite a while (regarding who was the tallest), so thanks
I'd ask my friends to come and see... an Octopus's Garden with me ^___^
And anyone noticed that the guys didn't seem so tall when they appeared in pictures with other people: Sir George (in the studio) or Peter Brown (in John's wedding) just two examples I remember now. There are videoclips of John... for example: at the beginning of Stand By Me clip John and Yoko entered the white limusine and the man besides them are taller than John (how big the limusine was!!)... if John, Paul and George were 5 11 the other men were 6 03 at least!!! I think John was about 5 08 and Paul and George about 5 09.
[...]I think Ringo was about 5'6.5'' (169 cm), John about 5'8.5'' (174 cm), George about 5'9.25'' (176 cm) and Paul, clearly the tallest, about 5'10'' (178 cm).
... and the whole thread is a discussion about their heights (almost everyone agree that they were not as tall as we all have been said) and Ringo pics posing as a righthanded ...
Thank you, Octie! Of course, these aren't real theories. These are just made-up birthday day-of-the-week theories. It's sort of like playing darts with words.
But the HEIGHT theory, that's an actual theory of mine! It concerns the Incredible Shrinking Beatles.
It all started when I watched this clip of John with Howard Cosell:
I was shocked! John was so little! So I looked up Howard Cosell's height and found it listed as 6' 1" (1.85 M), which is tall, but he's more than 2 inches taller than John in this clip. So I knew the official 5'11" Beatle height was incorrect. If you take off the Beatle boots, all the guys lose 2" in height right there. (By the way, I agree with the heights Raxo posted above; relative height is another of my fixations.)
But they were still relatively tall. If you look at footage of the young Beatles in crowds, they do tend to be taller than many of the surrounding folks. I'm particularly thinking of the footage of the Beatles arriving in Wales for their first weekend with the Maharishi. There are greeters at the door and most of the Beatles just loom over the crowd.
So to the shoe theory I must add... age shrinkage. Yes, alas. This takes two hideous forms. The first is that, as a person ages, they do lose inches in height. But you have to be relatively advanced, middle-aged I mean, for this to be noticeable. Paul is probably under 5'9" now, but he was certainly taller in his prime.
But that's just a factor. The worst factor of all is... the younger people are taller. They are, and I have never forgiven them!!! I used to be tall, darn it. I used to be one of the "tall" girls, with poise and elegance. Well, okay, with a clear height advantage! And then, when I started hanging out with my nieces, they are all taller than me! When I go to the airport, everyone under 20 is taller than me! It's depressing.
So my theory is (ahem) the Beatles looked taller when they were younger because they were, both absolutely and relatively. Then, as age came along and the new younger generation grew up, they experienced both actual and relative height diminishment. To quote Ringo, "Why are they always taller than me?"
This is my theory and it is mine. It probably doesn't belong in the birthday thread. Is there a Beatles height thread? Cheers.

The official numbers say that John, Paul and George are all 5'11. So how come that Paul is much taller on the cover of Sgt Pepper? Did John and George shrink?
If this doesn't prove age shrinkage, I don't know what does!
