I'm wondering what the greatest single scream in rock'n'roll.
I'll propose Roger Daltry in "Won't Get Fooled Again." And John Lennon in "Revolution" (if that's John). Anybody else?

Kate Bush " Violin ", from Never For Ever (1980) she let's rip through out that track , think i read somewhere she as a four octave range what ever that means lol. So i would put her forward as the biggest screamer in Rock n Roll at least female wise .
Thom Yorke - Climbing Up The Walls. Iggy Pop - LA Blues.
And let's not forget: Ringo - I've got blisters on my fingers!!
Though pretty much nothing beats Daltry.
What about Kurt Cobain?

I imagine Polly Harvey could give her a run for her money.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
What about Pattie LaBelle , singing LADY MARMALDE , did anyone see her singing at Live Aid ? the American leg ,now their's a women with a powerful pair of lungs ,her screaming can wake the dead lol
The late Billy Mackenzie of the Associates had an extrodanary vocal range 1982's Sulk album is overflowing with vocal gymnastics from him, Party Fears Two , Country Club ,No ,Bap De La Bap , Skipping . As anyone else got this cd? had forgotten just what a voice he had, kinda of Opera meets Shirley Bassey on Acid lol
Cool thread idea. I can't think of many that haven't been named already, but I always loved Robert Plant's screaming on "Immigrant Song". Aaah-ah-aaaaah.... AH!
You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.
I think you're right, it's a harmonically blended scream (if that's possible). I'm not sure if it's a scream but Van Morrison does some guttural pyrotechnics on "Listen to the Lion."
And the worst one? Paul's on Golden Slumbers: Smileeees awake you when you rise... Ouch!
Would you call that a scream? Surely he's just putting in some heart felt emphasis. And it sounds great. I think it was quite clever to put a roar of adult emotion into lullaby lyrics - it lifts the whole song. If you're having that then I'm having John's girlie ye-he-hee on Imagine

John has similar (ye-he-hee) scream (or whatever you call that) on Don't let me down - but that one is nice, isn't it? Screaming for Yoko, I suppose...

You guys and girls are writing about average screams Have you ever heard In Rock by Deep Purple. That's the SCREAM! Ian Gillan is the greatest screamer
I was listening to Careful with that Ax, Eugene the other day and Roger Waters deserves some kind of medal for the length and volume of that scream. Wow! Hi primal scream makes John Lennon seem well adjusted.
Oh course, there's Scream Thy Last Scream, Old Woman with a Casket by Syd. Although I don't remember much actual screaming, but I could be wrong.
Pink Floyd--now there's a band with some "issues." AAAHHGHHHHHGHHHHDHALHAHHHKDJKHLHKALJL!!!!!!
John's primal screams on 'Mother'. Turn it up at the fadeout and listen to the last one--it starts at his toenails. I'm surprised he didn't rupture anything.

Oh, that is truly a fab scream. Sorry, John.
All you've got to do is choose love. That's how I live it now. I learned a long time ago, I can feed the birds in my garden. I can't feed them all. -- Ringo Starr, Rolling Stone magazine, May 2007
For all I know, Ringo might be a yogi disguised as a drummer! - George Harrison
