My day was much calmer. I have 1.5 seconds from hearing my office door opening to having my boss standing behind me, and I'm not good in panic situations.

Regarding my "plan", I just thought it might be a good idea to have access to member's email addresses so in future we can let them know what the problem is and when it might be fixed.

That is a very good idea. Maybe just send a mail out to all regular members if there's a problem. Maybe new members to, so as not to discourage them.
