Music legend SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY has already planned his own funeral - he wants to be laid to rest in Ireland. The former Beatle, who celebrates his 65th birthday today (18Jun07), confesses he was consumed with thoughts about his own death while writing new album Memory Almost Full. He says, "I fancied looking at death as a subject for myself. And then I thought, I like the kind of Irish approach where you have a wake and it's kind of celebratory. "I remember an Irish woman wishing me well once and she said, 'I wish you a good death.' When I thought about that, that's actually a great thing to wish someone."
Good on Paul! This is only sensible. I hope he has a strong advocate who makes sure his wishes are implemented. Here's hoping the plans won't be needed for many years.
All you've got to do is choose love. That's how I live it now. I learned a long time ago, I can feed the birds in my garden. I can't feed them all. -- Ringo Starr, Rolling Stone magazine, May 2007

i dont know i think he just realises hes at that stage of life that it could be tomorrow or could be 10 years down the line and just wants to make sure he gets the right funeral setup now rather than leaving it and then not having it ready for when the day comes
What's up with Macca ? 65 isn't really "old" old anymore, unless you're right..he's keeping something from us...or maybe Heather plans to finish him off, hope not. All jokes aside, I'm always grateful that two of them (former Beatles)are at least still with us--It's a subject no true Beatle fan likes to consider--although it's inevitable. Hope Paul & Ringo die in their beds when they're both 98. To me it seems so uncharacteristic of Macca to be so morose. Hope he snaps out of it.
I think Paul's just at a period in his life where he's thinking a lot about the past and the future. It depresses me that that day will come, but I feel pretty confident that he and Ringo will both be around for another 30 years, which is a long time.
~Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans~ ~Give me love, give me peace on earth~ ~All day long I'm sitting singing songs for everyone~ ~The sun is up, the sky is blue, it's beautiful and so are you~
Please don't worry, everyone! I have a will, have had one for years. With someone of Paul's billions, a will is only sensible and responsible. It doesn't mean he's dying or depressed, merely taking a sensible precaution for his heirs-- particularly considering he has a grasping soon-to-be-ex-wife who could tie up the bundle for years. Paul always struck me as quite sensible where his money was concerned.
If you don't already have your own will and if you have any material goods you'd like to pass along to someone in particular, I urge you to follow his example and get your own will drawn up. You can even download regular forms that you can customize with a minimum of effort. Death is part of life. It's okay to be realistic about it. Unfortunately, too many families turn into animals when it comes to snarling over the spoils of a recently departed loved one.
I'm with the crowd that hopes our two surviving Beatles will be around for ages. But making funeral arrangements is not remotely frightening to me. Cheers!

you're probably right. hope so.
and maybe he is just thinking about death more, generally speaking. after all, he's already outlived his "when I'm 64" now he's "livin' on borrowed time" hehe just kidding
