OK. I just opened this to show you my own McCartney compilation that I've made in 2006. Because All The Best! and Wingspan are compilations that only spanned the 1970-1984/7 period, I wanted to have all the 'hits' in 2 CDs. So I did it. Please nobody be mad with me just because I made a pirate CD! Everyone did it sometime! OK. The tracks are in chronological order. The first CD focuses on the Wings era, and the second in the Paul solo era. I guess it's a pretty good collection, a generous 40-track retrospective, but of course not everybody will like, so I want your opinion!
Ultimate McCartney / Greatest Hits 1970-2006
CD 1 (70-79) 1: Maybe I'm Amazed (the studio version from McCartney) 2: Another Day (his first single, I supposed that this one was not good enough to be the first track of the collection, that's because I put Maybe I'm Amazed as the opener) 3: Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey 4: Give Ireland Back To The Irish 5: Hi, Hi, Hi 6: C Moon 7: My Love 8: Live And Let Die 9: Helen Wheels (or, as I sing it, 'Heather Mills' ) 10: Jet 11: Band On The Run 12: Junior's Farm (my mistake here was to choose the DJ edit, when the full version could be fit) 13: Listen To What The Man Said 14: Silly Love Songs 15: Let 'Em In 16: Mull Of Kintyre 17: With A Little Luck (the DJ edit, the album version is too long!) 18: Goodnight Tonight 19: Wonderful Christmastime This CD's lenght is 77:40!
CD 2 (80-06) 1: Coming Up (the studio version) 2: Waterfalls (the DJ edit) 3: Ebony And Ivory (the single edit, with an early -really short- fade-out) 4: Take It Away (my own edit, with a quite strange mix in its intro, because I took the original version from the 'Tug of War' album which is mixed along with the final chords from the title track, so this one sounds a little weird) 5: Say Say Say 6: Pipes Of Peace (the single edit) 7: So Bad 8: No More Lonely Nights (the single edit) 9: We All Stand Together 10: Spies Like Us 11: Press (not the single edit, because I can't found it!) 12: Once Upon A Long Ago 13: My Brave Face 14: This One 15: Hope Of Deliverance 16: Young Boy 17: The World Tonight 18: No Other Baby (because of time restrictions, I haved to make my own edit, editing the track from 4:17 to 2:29, it sounds nice) 19: Freedom (OK, this was a big mistake. I should have put 'From A Lover To A Friend' if I wanted to put something from the 'Driving Rain' album... But my mum love this one) 20: Fine Line 21: Jenny Wren (the studio version, I should have put the single edit...) The lenght of this second CD is even more impressive than the first one: 79:54!!
Every track was mastered (by me, sure) making a really good work with the handful of tracks that I don't have in CD and I've downloaded. Of course I made a nice 8-page (just 8-page...) booklet for the set, including a lot of info from every track, including recording/releasing dates, musicians for every track and three photos from the Chaos and Creation sessions.
Well, that's it. I hope you comment. And tell me which tracks you feel missed in this collection!!
I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't eat trash... I work out hard everyday and have a healthy life. And I'm proud of it.
Well, I'm not much of a solo Paul fan, so I feel my opinion is pretty biased, personally I think Say Say Say and Ebony And Ivory are.. complete crap for lack of better words. Though it's a very well done compilation, even with those two. Others seem to enjoy them. I've made a few of my own compilations before, Wings and Paul, showcasing some of the lesser-known, but equally amazing songs. I love making compilations though, they are great for road trips . I agree with Andy, Dance Tonight should be added too!
It's good compilation , wonder if we will get one from Paul this Christmas ,he's gunna need a bit of cash soon

That's true. And if it's released in the less-competitive January could be #1!! But we're dreamin', I don't see another Paul compilation during this decade.

why does everybody including mccartney always put c'moon on this kind of compilations? there's better songs than that.
In my personal taste, theres better tunes than most of what was listed there. C'Moon was a popular tune that got some decent air play at the time (a top 10 in the UK and US) so its mostly included in the greatest hits garbage.

I've never seen an official compilation where this statement didn't ring true. McCartney needs to release a compilation with some other material, hell, maybe even including a song or two showcasing a member of Wings other than himself. So many great songs left unnoticed.

Of course there's better songs than many of the compilation I've made. But, this is not a 'very best' compilation is a 'greatest hits', and when you're talking about greatest hits you follow the charts. I just wanted to have the songs that were most played in radio at its time. For example, the 'From A Lover To A Friend' single was a weak choose for a single. The Driving Rain lead single to me must be Lonely Road or Your Loving Flame. For a 'very best' Paul collection aparently we already have Wingspan . . .

I don't there's a tune on the Driving Rain album that had that single appeal Even though i love the album more & more as time's gone on, i can't see From a Lover to a Friend or maybe Lonely Road being highly remembered.
HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY TO THE WHITE ALBUM! you say its your birthday!

A very fine compilation actually. I was playing London Town and Wings At The Speed Of Sound last night.
Two of my all time fav wings albums! the London Town album is so relaxing i find to listen to (with a little luck is fantastic!). Still on my obsession with Memory Almost Full at the moment. i don't think anybody can stop me listening to it!
