so I am listening to the promo spots for the London Town album and Paul brought up an interesting point about how he wouldn't have played guitar on some of the tracks if Jimmy wouldn't have left and that got me thinking...would London Town had been a different album if Jimmy and Joe wouldn't have left? Why or why not?
"Wings IV introduced Jimmy McCulloch, a spunky lead guitarist with grit, able to spur Paul on unlike any previous soloist. His debut track, the magnificent single `Junior's Farm', stands as one of Wings' finest emotional and technical releases."
"Few people on this planet know as much about Jimmy's musical history than you."
"I'm Joe English and I'm from Glasgow, Scotland." xD
I like London Town , but maybe it would have sounded better with Jimmy on it , it's a bit to smooth in places and i think it would have benefited with some good guitar playing on it .
I think it would have been a heavier sounding album. Paul once said that Jimmy loved playing heavy guitar. You can hear on 'Cafe on the left bank' Jimmy's heavy guitar riffs. I think it would have been a totally different sounding album with Jimmy's heavy playing and Joe's crazy drumming.
I cant see it being a totally different album. It would have been the same album with a few different spots. I'm pretty sure it wouldnt have been enough to push the album any higher on my list although it probably would have benefitted some.

I agree. The album it's maybe too soft... It really needed a little bit more hard guitar. I guess the only real rocker there is 'I've Had Enough'. Fantastic track.

It must have been strange for the listener as Back to the Egg came after which was more rocky & completly different from LondonTown. I think i prefer London Town better though, to me it had much better songs on it.
HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY TO THE WHITE ALBUM! you say its your birthday!
What the heck? They made lemonade out of 'Band on the Run' after Denny Seiwell and whoever the drummer was that week left (sorry, too lazy to look him up, Henry (?--you know who I mean) and turned out a pretty decent product... Paul has always maintained one way or the other.

I really like Girls' School and would be a great album track, but remember that the London Town is extremely long. Its length is 51:30. It's really sad that Wings didn't make a double album with London Town, because many tracks were left off. "Boil Crisis" "El Toro Passing" "Running Round The Room" "Standing Very Still" "After You've Gone" "Fairy Tale" These titles are revealed in the jpgr.co.uk page. Adding the Mull Of Kintyre/Girls' School single and a few of those unreleased titles, it could be a fantastic double LP. It's a shame that Paul never released a double LP. He tried to do that in many ocasions, I guess Red Rose Speedway, London Town, McCartney II and Tug Of War. But it never worked out.

I think it was going to be a double album i read somewhere, but Macca wasen't satisfied with half the tracks. shame as there was an unreleased track they taped during the LT sessions called 'Waterspout' which was fantastic! you can find it on bootlegs.

Stupid fact: 'London Town' was the longest major release of 1978.
