THE BEATLES in there short career just got better and better , and never got the chance to release a bad album , in my opinion . Is there any bands that have had just as a good career, where they hav`nt had a crap album ?

I agree Mr Kite not many bands can say they did'nt release a crap album in their career's like The Beatles , but as most bands tend to go on past there sell by date a few crap ones can creep into the best of bands. I can think of only two bands that im familiar with that put a string of sold albums together in there career " Dire Strates And The Smiths " . Ive been listening to Brother's In Arms recently and it's a great album in my opinion
Theres a lot of bands who should have hung up there guitars a lot early in there careers , THE ROLLING STONES are one in my mind , the last album i bought was TATTOO YOU was that 82 i cant remember .

When I try to think about a bad album done by The Beatles, I can't think of a single one. Even those not so good songs could be heard at times. Although I know some people who think the White Album is disorganized but that can't be consider a bad album because it contain great songs such as Yer Blues & Dear Prudence (my favorite of the whole album).
For me, The Beatles were evolving with each album they made but there are albums that were definitive in that evolution.... Revolver & Rubber soul- When it was evident that the music was evolving, more instrospective songs, using of exotic instruments like the sitar (George) and Paul beginning to experiment with different sounds, although hints of those changes were seen in earlier albums such as Help! and Beatles for sale.
Sgt. Pepper's- this album defined what a concept album should be, although the songs could be included in any album but somehow they blended so well...
White Album- their individual styles were developing.
I wonder how many younger bands can say they have more than one great album....
So I think there's no bad Beatles'album... well who knows if they could have carried on after Abbey Road....
I hope the Stones never quit. They had some good stuff on their last album, but of course no one heard it because it got no radio play. I think it's awesome that they're still playing. They've got the catologue to back them up so I'm glad they don't give a bleep!!
Back to the original question. What about the Clash? Or Queen? Maybe Jimi Hendrix? The Doors were pretty consistent too, You have to look at the short lived bands who didn't get much of a chance to f up.
I love the stones , but i think they have been a brand name more than a band thats moved on , say like U2 , as for HENDRIX i think his career was going down after the experience. I have the same problem with DYLAN after BLONDE ON BLONDE i dont like any of his albums , and lord i`ve tried Loved the bootleg series though they were brilliant
A good point DARK PHOENYX

The Beach Boys maybe, even their not-so-good one's they released in the late 70's are worth investigating! Cocteau Twins seemed to release great album after great album in my opinion! David Bowie did to me up until late 70's then i lose interest, Elliott Smith, Bob Marley, The Smiths (of course! DaveRam , beatles of the 80's for me!) XTC are another group who've managed to release so many fantastic albums in my opinion. Can't think of any new-ish groups who've released great album after great album. i like debut albums by Doves, Goldfrapp, Kaiser Cheifs & Ordinary Boys for exmple but i don't think anything they've done since is that outstanding.
It's been a Hard Days Night & i've been working like a dog!

Most recent bands do a great album and then they can't repeat that quality....
For example, Guns n' Roses rocked with Appetite for destruction, they had a quality other bands of the era didn't have (Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, etc.). Then after a lot of turmoil they released the Use your illusion albums but they couldn't repeat what they did in Appetitite for Destruction. That doesn't mean the albums are bad but they can't be compare with Appetite.
Even worst other bands only have a couple of nice songs in an album and the rest is crap. At least with The Beatles I can play the whole CD...
I think The Beatles were smart enough to quit before they lose their essence... and that's what make them so special among the rest of the bands. They were able to make better things album after album. The proof is that some of their best songs came out after Sgt. Pepper's.
