It seems to be mostly a british disease. Anyone who got a few hits together was suddenly on celluloid. Correct me if I'm wrong, but The Beach Boys and The Byrds never sucumbed. Only The Monkees (and that's not too bad).
In America, a lot of bands had cameo appearances in "beach movies" - as did The Beach Boys in The Girls On The Beach - you'd be surprised how many "respectable" US bands appeared in these!
I got it yesterday! wey-hey!!!!! i absolutley love it, great bonus material with the extra scene & nice booklet! i'm so happy it's now finally out on DVD!!

The "missing scene" listed on the DVD box and in the book is just that - MISSING!!!! There is NO bonus scene. True it's a great package but I feel conned as they promoted the DVD with the implication that the "Sam Ahab" scene was included. It's not often I feel ripped off by Beatle product (although my wife thinks I have been many times over the years!) but the way this "missing scene" was marketed has left me feeling royally ripped off!
I'm confused. Is the "Sam Ahab" scene there, but only in the extras? Thanks.

Well, I've had a quick look through it. There's a brief (5-6 minute) piece about the 'missing scene' featuring Richard Lester, and Wendy Richard. And that's it. From the interview with Lester it sounds like the scene was such a disaster that it was never edited for inclusion in the first place. So why this became a selling point for the re-issue is beyond me.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

Exactly!! I would have bought the box-set anyway, but what has really pissed me off is the way we were conned into believing that the missing scene was included!!
I'm none too impressed with the packaging either. I only have the non-deluxe version, but I was expecting/hoping for something along the lines of the Concert For Bangladesh pack. That was just a normal edition, and it's beautifully packaged. The Help! pack looks like it was put together during someone's coffee break!

Andy, help! You'd better explain this. How come you've seen the extra scene, and no one else can? Thanks!
