Why is bob dylan so bad live?? never seen him myself, but I have recent recordings, and I know loads who have seen him who say he sits at his keyboard and doesn't talk to the audience and mumbles the lyrics, not even bothering to sing (he proberly can't anymore).

So who has seen him live recently and what did you think? Compared to the stones these days, he certainly pales in comparison, even though he's a livin' legend.

My uncle saw him live last year & said that he wasn't very good.
He just sat there behind his keyboard like you said & never said or
sang much. He said the band were great but he took ages to sing
verse after verse, or he would jump into another verse missing a bit
that he should have sang & that would f**k the band up!
I was looking at the early 60's footage with just him & his guitar.
& i realised how amazing he was live back then, but i'm not sure about him
as years have gone on. Still think he's the greatest 'living' songwriter on the
planet! along with McCartney, Elvis Costello, Bjork & Morrissey to mention a few.

I used to feel Dylan was inferior live than on recording, but as soon as I listened to Live 1966 at Albert Hall, that changed everything. That is definitely one of my favorite live albums.

Yes. He was definately at his peak then, and changing the face of rock concerts.  While The Beatles and the Stones were knocking off twenty minute sets he plays for well over an hour, including an eight minute Like A Rolling Stone. After the famous "Judas" shout, Dylan turned to The Band and said " play this f*cken loud!" Now that's rock and roll.

I think he shouted his voice out in the 70s playing arenas.  The concert hall was the natural venue for Dylan (even electric).  Listen to Before the Flood or even Hard Rain and you can hear those vocals chords being shredded.  What a shame.

He is absolutely horrible in his present state. I saw him some years back with Paul Simon and I had to leave he was so bad. He just cant sing anymore and I think he should keep it in the studio where producers and sound people can help that voice out.

yeah i saw him in april, although the experience was wonderful and well ejoyed and he went back to electric guitar and harmonica and at times keyboard he didn't once speak to the audience apart from saying the names of the band! he changed the format of the songs and the lyrics, i couldn't understand what he was singing until in some songs i looked them up online! I didn't know he sang blinde willie Mctell!

also our seats were bad, but i still enjoyed it!

It obviously takes a lot to piss you off then!

I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

I haven't seen live, but I try to watch his recent shows on youtube.
My friend Justin, being a big fan himself saw him three times.
The first time he said it was bad, but the next two were later on and he loved them.

I love all the Bob videos I see from recent concerts.
He's still amazing, and as intriguing and wonderful as he was 40 years ago.

But it might just be me, that hardcore dylan fan.
