I'm one of the biggest Brian Wilson fans on earth, but I'll be the first one to admit that the really good songs that he's written in the last 30 years can be counted on the fingers of one hand... But he's posted a demo of a song from his forthcoming new album on his website http://www.brianwilson.com, and it just blew my mind... I really didn't expect (or even hope) he could still write songs this good. What do you think?
(Oh, and it's streaming, if someone could make an MP3 so that I can put it on my iPod - would be much appreciated...)
Good to see he's still going, hopefully the rest of this album is going to be as good as this one. Perhaps you can find an mp3 of the song somewhere else on the internet?
I've heard a lot of recent Brian Wilson vocals that were quite a bit less than great, to be honest.
The guy just can't sing that well anymore. He used to be one of the best singers in the world, with an always perfect pitch and an amazing vocal range. But that was a long time ago, that's what you get when you're 65 and used to smoke 3-4 packs per day. When he does Beach Boys songs nowadays he usually sings Mike Love's lower parts instead of his own arts, plus his band plays the songs 2 notes lower than originally and his 'sidekick' Jeffrey Foskett doubles his vocals if necessary and do the higher notes that Brian can't reach anymore.

It may be a little off topic, sorry, but I found on Brian's website, an interview of Brian by Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols. It really is a nice interview, I thought those two would be an odd combination.
