I never hear Beatles songs on classic rock stations that play the life out of Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, and the Who.  Only occasionally will I hear Come Together - but 9 times out of 10 it will be the crummy Aerosmith version.  

Seems that radio programmers have decided that Beatles music is considered "soft rock," and that's where I hear them the most.  Disgrazia.

There arent many stations here that play 'em. I heard Revoloution once and Come together. Why dont you send them an email?

You seem to have this idea that everything that is not hardrock is automatically relegated to soft rock, as if nothing exists in between.
I think the truth is most Beatle songs don't fit the classic rock format, which is hard/progressive. Doesn't mean they're considered "soft rock." There is a world in between.

I've always considered them to be primarily a pop band. I imagine classic rock stations stick to just that. That's the trouble with specialised music stations, a lot of musicians miss out because they don't fit into any recognised catagory. Try a pop radio station aimed at the over 40's.

Even the 60s format stations play more Sonny and Cher and bubblegum crap than Beatles and Dylan.  The Beach Boys get reasonable play, but mostly the earlier stuff.  

Of course you will hear that charttopper "Lightning strikes again . . . ." by falsetto-king Lou Christie.  

Here in Argentina, they are all the time in the AC stations. I don't listen radio, but my mother do, so everytime there's a Beatles song playing she calls me. 'Hey, the Beatles again!'.

Good point. I expect Van Halen are considered 'classic rock', but if you don't like them, there's nothing very classic about them, is there?

They don't play them here on the Classic hits station. only very rarely they played Beatles songs. I remember hearing Hello Goodbye and We Can Work It Out and thats all. they mainly play 70's music. and I don't know of any other classic rock stations here.

You're right. I can't get Brian's version. The original of John is the best, so sad and beautiful.

There is?  What station would I get "world in between?"

I like Bryan Ferry's version.  It's more epic than John's--because it was recorded after John's death as a tribute.  So it's kinda hard to compare with John's.  Personally I would have loved to have heard John do it live.  Just solo piano.  On record it seems just a little bit "canned" or sterile.  May be the Spector production.  It's like there's no air in the room.  Any one else know what I mean or is it only me?

There used to be a classic rock station in P.E.I. that played two Beatles songs every morning. I found they replayed a lot of their songs though. If I had a nickel for every time they played "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" or "Cat's in the Cradle", I'd be rich.
