Does anyone have any idea how and where I can buy web space? I want to pay a one-off fee not a monthly charge.

yeah you could down the free subdomain route which will have ads at top of page or sometimes more, so the address would be like http://www.freewebspace.theend.com

It all looks very good - almost too good to be true! Unlimited ad-free webspace for 3GBP a month (if you use your own file transfer protocol)?! Is that right? Have I missed something?
